Cath, probably because they are more susceptible to small changes. For example, a few pence on petrol or utility bills can throw the affordability of their IVA overboard. Doubtless Size 5 can give a more definitiv answer.

There are many people of your age in IVAs. Follow Kallis's advice. I entered my IVA just short of my 64th birthday, though I intend working on for 2 years beyond retirement age. My IVA is for 3 years only.

As far as I know, Mrs Wilson, quoted above, is the ONLY person to have her debts written off under this "loophole" In her case, she pawned her BMW and then found that the pawnbroker had added administration charges not included in the Agreement. The noble Law Lords deemed that this blatant breach of...

If it were established that pre April 2007 debts were unenforceable (and it is still, as far as I know, going through the court appeal system) then it would apply equally to people who could pay as well as people who couldn't. Two things that the courts have established: 1. The debt remains even if ...

Sometimes the topic headings can be misleading. I read this as:
"I've just found out I am pregnant (by: Melanie Giles)"
Essential reading, but wasn't sure if congratulations or commiserations would be in order!!!

Thanks for your reply, Liam. I haven't yet contacted my IP on this simply because it is all speculation at the moment (I only got the letter on Friday). Of course, I will do as soon as I know what is involved. Even had I known about it when entering the IVA, it is only as assett that can be realised...

I may be about to receive a "windfall" of a different nature. In the seventies I worked for a large multi-national company, mostly overseas. When I left in 1980 I received a "golden handshake" which, as far as I was aware, included cashing in my pension. I have now received a letter from that compan...

Don't think Man U's performance was anything to gloat about, Size 5 and Skippy. They looked very much like Rooney United to me. Perhaps they should get a couple of strikers on loan from Man City as they have so many to spare? I thought I saw Bobby Charlton putting his boots on in the second half!!!

Not true, I'm afraid. Your state pension is included in your income for IVA purposes. My IVA is going to increase in November when I will receive state pension in addition to my employment income!!!

You are paying a high monthy amount which suggests either your agreement is for a high dividend or you owed an awful lot or both!! On the face of it £11,000 doesn't seem anywhere near 4 years at £709 per month, but your IP is the one to advise on this.

Julie (Swansgirl) do you really understand all that stuff on the gas bill about British Thermal Units and calorific coefficients? If so, I salute you. Personally I couldn't tell the difference between a British Thermal Unit and a Lithuanian one!!
