Andy

Another success story for the forum - does St Andrew fancy taking on another crusade at the moment! This HPI thing is a real problem for us with certain creditors levying flags for unsecured lending.

Hi Melanie
Yes I will look into this area early next week.
I wonder if Storm can say how widespread this policy is ?

That's great, Andy. Even though the situation was pretty worrying and not nice to deal with, I'm pleased the problem has come to light. I, like many, would not have has a clue about being able to sell my car, I assumed that the finance company had a legal right to claim the car. I just hope that others benefit from the info on this post-and future ones linked to this problem. As I have already said, this is a distressing enough situation without having unneccessary worry.

Learning as I go along!!!
It's nice to be back......

Good luck with getting the flag removed. Can I just point out though that different dealers use different HPI data bases. My car was clear on the RAC base but not on the one the dealer used. It was the fact he knew an ex-salesman from GE and he asked him about it that the sale went ahead.
xx
