Hello

If you are on an IVA and you wish to sell some items on Ebay, do you have to hand over 50% of any money that you receive??

Thanks in Advance

How about when PayPal transfers appear on your Bank Statements and your IP requests statements when you have a review, then they will know!!!

That would of course all depend on what is being sold and how much it is making.

Tell it like it is.

I maybe wrong and I am wiling to stand corrected but I think it really depends on how much you are selling and the prices involved. If it is just a case of selling odds and sods and the monetary value is small then it should be okay, ie £5/10 here and there. If you were looking more at selling on ebay on a regular basis then this would have to be declared. Just depends on what you are selling really, ie if you sell something for £100 then yes I think this would fall under that clause. Especially like you said manc, paypal appears on bank statements.

Hopefully one of the experts will be along soon.

I agree with Kandh,I think it would depend on how much you are selling, if you are selling all the time and making a fair bit then yes I suppose it could be viewed as extra income. If it is just household stuff you dont need like you would sell in a boot sale, just to boost your budget I would not see a problem. Thers a better idea the good old boot sale like Kerry said she had done for her chrissie presents.

Perhaps I'm being naughty here, its seems a very grey area but why don't you set up a new basic bank account and just pay your profit from ebay into that, your IP won't know you have the account so you don't have to show any statements.

Hiya, at the risk of sounding dishonest what about requesting uncrossed postal orders as payment? That way there is no obvious track and unless the IP can request your ebay selling account history they would not know. Just a thought....

But then what happens if your IP does find out?? It might be a grey area but surely its not worth the risk. You could put your IVA in jeopardy. Afterall the whole point about an IVA surely is to put the best offer forward for your creditors and to repay back as much as reasonably possible and this includes windfalls/extra income??

Perhaps I am just being too honest? I would constantly worry as having got as far as getting an IVA approved, I would do anything to make sure it worked as every little overpayment would surely be a positive thing if for some reason there were problems later on on the IVA road.

Kandh makes the best post of the thread. I can understand the odd £10/15 etc but if it is a lot (over £100) then it can only help the IVA

Thanks for all of your replies.

If it helps I sell all our old clothes, house hold items etc on Ebay purely becuse sometimes you get more money than you do on car boots

My IVA company were ok with this so long as it was only personel belongings and not buying things to make a profit

At the end of the day its not a good idea to hide things from your IP as this could back fire later down the road

Hi
It is perfectly ok to sell unwanted household items on ebay,no need to inform your IP.
If you are buying and selling at a profit,as many do on ebay, then this is deemed as a business and profits would have to be declared
