Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the site but can't say how much it is helping already to know there are others out there in a similar position to me. I have always had credit and coped well with the repayments however last April my Fiancee suddenly died from a massive heart attack and I began to sink. I had been too trusting and had signed for three of his company cars - the payments came from his bank account. I had rented out my house and we were renting in Wales. When he died his sons took everything (- they even asked for my engagement ring back) but didn't give the cars back for over 6 weeks and that debt together with findng the rent, etc I finally sank.I had to try and find an extra £1700 per month for his debt - money I didn't have.
The cars have now been sold and I am in an IVA to get out of debt.
My problem is I have to sell my house in the next 6 months (part of the IVA )and I've tried lots of companies trying to sell and rent back - but that doesn't appear to be an option.(I thought it would be good for me as then I would have somewhere to live and I wouldn't have to try and sell the contents). I don't have the money for fees or a HIP - can anyone point me in the right direction.
I know how others feel - I am depressed and seeing my doctor on Friday for professional help and medication - I have seriously considered suicide as the road ahead seems so bleak.
Any help grateflly accepted,
C

Oh caerrie, as Michael says please do not even consider suicide. There will be a way out with your debt problems - would bankruptcy have been a better option for you? You have to be careful with some of these companies that buy your home and rent back. They hike the rent up so you end up moving anyway.Talk to your IP please they will not want your IVA to fail.

Make sure you tell your doc everything - its too much to carry on your own. Only wish I could help you more, but we're all here to listen.

Hey Caerrie, I know it seems hopeless at the moment but there is a solution. Your life is more important than money. An expert will be along shortly to advise you. You say that your IVA company are asking you to sell the house and from a previous post of yours, your car aswell, what company are you with? Something doesn't sound quite right to me. Viki X

The fees for selling the house should come out the sale proceeds before any monies left are handed over to the IVA company!
Some agents offer a 1% fee in my area so look around. and some include free HIPs .

Im surprised the IVA is MAKING you sell your house!

hey caerrie

so sorry you are having a really bad time! but like others have said you and your life are far more precious than money, so do not even consider taking your life!

whenever you feel you need to unload there will always be someone on here happ yto listen!

would it not have been better in your circumstances to have considered bancruptycy so that you can draw a line under these debts!

like vicki says - who is your ip? as i am surprised you have got to sell your home!

a expert should be along to advice you!

try to be strong, i know thats not easy after all you have been through, but there will be a way forward for you!

Hi Everyone and thank you - you've been so nice and welcomming I'm in tears again - that happens a lot at the mo!
I'm with Blair Endesby (Baines & Ernst)they say the house has to go in the first 6 months to clear the mortgage and a secured loan - I can understand that as it will hopefully free-up £20,000 for my creditors and also allow my monthly payments to go up by £1,000 (as long as the bottom doesn't fall out of the market). I was keen to get an IVA as I want to pay back money I owe on credit cards, etc - it was my partner's debt that has crippled me. B & E took their fees over two months - all my food money - I lost nearly 2 stone as I couldn't afford to eat and that's when the depression really kicked in, I was grieving and that just tipped me over the edge. When trying to get a new car one finance company did say I should have gone bankrupt - I don't know what would be best. I work for the NHS - would my employment be affected? Even with bankruptcy the house would have to go a no win situation. I thought the IVA would look better in the future if I can keep it up.
Thank you all for this marvellous support - it helps to know I'm not alone anymore,
Love,
C x

In case anyone is wondering I just completed my profile and decided to name myself after my favourite tipple - it's also my ebay name which I've been using to try and sell just about everything I own to raise money to live on!!This way I can also imagine I can afford the odd glass of vino!!
Hence Chardonnay and not Caerrie!!

Thanks Kirsty,
Merlot sounds good to me - I can't afford Chardonnay any more, but for a treat I've found Country Manor - "Fine English Perry", 7.5%vol and only £4.17 for 3 litres at Asda!! I can imagine it's the real thing.
I can only hope things get better - mind you every time I think that someone drops a bombshell on me....

Hi and welcome to the forum

I would echo entirely what everyone else has said here - there can be no money worry that is serious enough to cause you to harm yourself.

There is something I do not understand here. Your fiance died as an insolvent. As a result of this, his creditors ought to have been paid before his sons got anything. As a guarantor of his unpaid debts, you yourself could be viewed as one of his creditors and as a result have legal priority.

You really need to take advice from either an insolvency lawyer or an IP at a face to face meeting. The complexity of your situation requires it I am afraid as one cannot rule out the possibility that there are claims that you yourself (or a Trustee in Bankruptcy if you took that course?) could make. When you say you are "in an IVA" has it actually been approved yet? If so, that should not rule out an IP giving you some time.

Echoing what everyone on here is saying really.

Regardless of the amount of debt, NOTHING is worth taking your life for.

At the end of the day it is only money.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Caerrie, you will never be alone on here. Someone is always there to lend you a shoulder to cry on, and we will never be judgemental. No one cares how much you rant either as we have all been there.

I hope you manage to sort things out and get back on your feet again.
So sorry about your loss, and your fiance's sons sound totally heartless.
