hi everyone, well its been a stressful week. The 2nd meeting was on thursday. We offered to take the car off the road to get rid of the issue grant thornton had about us using 10 pounds a day petrol to get to work and to school which is miles away and look after an elderly parent, but grant thornton rejected this offer!! really crazy. They said due to my disability i need the car! surely its my disability and i know if i can cope or not.Nothing wrong with my legs! Anyway that was yesterday and i then got asked where we drive to in a month including postcodes. the make of our car and the coxst of petrol in our area. I was a bit miffed, but did it anyway. Only to not get a call back to say sorry we will have to work on this tomorrrow as we are finishing for the day! Had to chase this up myself today. Once again today grant thornton have postponed making a decision until monday. Must say my new meeting officer is great and has been really trying today. In there words they cant 2nd guess what grant thornton are up to. Gosh a simple yes or no will do :) Does anyone know if they can do that regarding the car? Surely if the only issue is the fuel and i take it off the road there is no problem surely?

How awful Gina - I do hope this gets sorted.

Do you get DLA at all? If you can get the higher rate mobility component you can get a free car - the fact that you can walk is not always the thing. We have a neighbour with a severely autistic child who can walk miles, but they get a motability car. Perhaps worth looking into?

I would have thought though that if you say you can manage without the car they should be happy with that.

I admire GT for trying to sort out the car, but it should be down to you whether or not you want to keep it and if you can manage without it then I'd stick to my guns and insist that they ignore the car.

Yes but they won't even enter into discussion or moderations of the iva. They basically wanted to know everywhere I go . Then they have said they still may reject it, but won't allow me to take the car off the road. Oh well we will see on monday I guess :)

I don't see that it is their decision whether or not you take the car off the road, but of course they have you by the s&c.

Hope they come back with something positive on Monday.

Yes me too. Get the feeling they are playing a strange game. Even my supervisor is stumped by it all. She desperately tried to sort it out today only to be told can we do it monday afternoon!

hi all, today once again grant thornton have told my iva supervisor that northern rock said "oh can you leave it until tomorrow" so...we go again tomorrow. funny thing is we are getting less and less stressed about it all. Our supervisor says she has never come accross this before and is getting frustrated with it all. They have had the car fuel figures for ages now...she keeps having to clear her diary for this. So many other people must have had their iva meeeting put back because of this. Very strange.

They must be trying to work out your mileage to the last penny! Hope tomorrow really does mean tomorrow. You're right not to let them get to you. x
