Just saw somewhere from andy that anyone can view the insolvency register. Didnt know this and even worse it shows your address. I in in a profession where it isnt good that someone can look me up and see my address. Oh my god!
Yeah, it's awful, I panicked too. However, people would have to know about the insolvency register and then look your name up. How many people do you know who would think to do that? I hadn't heard of the insolvency register until I was on it.
Same here. I work for the police, no one at work knows about my IVA and I would be mortified if anyone saw my name. Fortunately I don't think anyone knows about it.
If I google my name as well it doesn't bring anything up for it.

Hope youre right! Avoided bankrupcy, didnt want my name in paper but its online for the world to see. Not good eh? I know its my fault i got in this mess but even so. Feeling bit hard done by!
welcome sonj listen to viki as she is absolutely correct. i have only just been accepted for an iva recently and pretty soon i will be on there too. as viki says its not the type of thing you go hunting out on the web-not as many people as you think are aware of it-mainly the financial institutions, the DTI et al.
to me its a small price to pay for the piece of mind the iva have given me.
i think you are worrying too much though take care [:)]
Thank you viki. When did you finish your iva? Bet youre so pleased are you. We are two years in gone september. Ours will last 5 and half years, the extra six months in leiu of any equity so house stays out of equation. I sometimes feel like it will never be gone. Got in trouble after doing a house up and it didnt sell. Loans and finance to sort it just built up and then the price was reduced dramtically. I have two little girls and desperately want to sort things out before they grow up.
I was mortified when I saw my name and nobody has mentioned to me they've seen it as like everyone says why should they be looking. I like others didn't know it existed when I first heard about it. The next time I look will be to check it's been removed on conclusion of IVA. I forget about it now and apart from my friends within the forum and my husband nobody knows about my IVA
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Mine was a full and final IVA and it was accepted in September. It's all been finalised now and my IVA has finished.
You will sort this out before your little girls grow up, just remember you, and I, probably wouldn't have hesitated to take out a five year loan. I think one of my loans was actually for ten years. At the end of the IVA you will be debt free and while you're in it you are protected from creditors and you won't be robbing peter to pay paul.
The issue of the Insolvency Register is again something that I will be bringing up at the next Standing Committee meeting later on this month.

Hubby's name was on the register for almost 3 years before we even knew it existed. It was only after joining this forum that we found out about it so i shouldnt worry x

Sonj77, I realise you have just deleted one of your posts. Just to let you know that there are certain circumstances where you ask not to be on the register. I'm not sure if yours is one of them, but worth mentioning this to your IP.[;)]
used to work in same profession as you-so can understand your concerns. until there is some legislation the info will remain public-again i cannot fully re-assure you but although its a public register its not something that is commonly know or something that someone would actively seek out to look for. it isnt very nice but you musnt let it overule you otherwise it will start to affect you and your work-good luck and keep posting we're here when u need us !
