I think that's right Fergie. I think if you have a situation where it would be dangerous to have your address on public view (i.e. abusive partner) then you can ask to have it removed.

Go to www.insolvency.gov.uk and do an IVA search from the home page. It is appalling that this register is very publicly available in England and Wales, but not Scotland and Northern Ireland - despite the fact that we live in the UNITED KINGDOM.

My sentiments entirely, for people who are doing their best to try and repay creditors in good faith and to the best of their ability. There is no need for this as the CRAs do an excellent job of highlighting persons who are high credit risk to future lenders, and the only people who really use the IR are IPs themselves - personally I find it very useful - and companies who see the opportunity to market (largely inappropriately) unecessary services to those who are already financially stretched and stressed.

Im sure they could limit the access to firms who really need it, instead of naming and shaming to the general public.
people have very legit reasons for not telling family, friends and this takes away a lot of there right to do that

There are addresses on there stressed1. If you click on a name it will bring you up all their details, including the address you were at when you took out the IVA.

Fortunately, not a lot of people know it is there, so the chances of anyone you know checking up is negligible.

My surname is even spelt incorrectly on the register and at a time wondered if this could have voided my IVA.

Not at all - and I would not be concerned about it at all.
