Hi all, alot of people are saying about waiting until the six years are up now, does this mean six years ish after your IVA was completed? or six years from your IVA completing?
Thanks

Hi, do you think they mean, the IVA will drop off your credit file 6 years from date of acceptance.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi. It's six years from the date your IVA starts.

Oh good, I had this terrible thought that it was another 6 years after it finishes. You'd be stuck under an IVA cloud for 11 years potentially otherwise! Thank you once again

The iva effect may roll on after the 6 year point, because this is where you start again, rebuilding your credit file, with nice positive things!!!

Just a point to add. The IVA stays on your file for 6 years from start of your IVA however if your IVA is longer than this it will remain on your file until it completes. This mite be the case for anyone with NRAM as a creditor & equity in property as 12 months extra payments is usually made instead of a new mortgage as it's near impossible to get one!
The road is 72months long starting September 2010.

Building your credit up normally means that you have to take loans and buy on credit. Otherwise your credit stays bad, doesn't it?
I am just wondering.

Kazbaz - if you have a mobile phone contract this can improve your credit rating after an IVA. Also a lot of posters get vanquis cards when they finish their IVA's and clear the balances each month.

Hi Kaz. In theory a blank credit record is as damning as a bad one, so little bits of credit usage demostrates that you can handle credit.

A few years ago now they "credit checked" the Queen and Phil ... they failed !!

Agree with Foggy that it can stop you getting credit, other than that I don't think it does.
