i have indeed and never looked back it was the best thing i did and to be honest i wish that i had done this 6 months previously as i wouldn't have had the worry and sleepless nights or the time off work due to stress, hey ho am older and wiser now. Thankfully i have very good support from close friends and my partner is fantastic even though i haven't been seeing him long, so it is true some good things do come along when thinking positively. This forum is fantastic and the help and advice is second to non, i think that all the experts should be put forward for an award as they answer queries and expect nothing in return. Good luck to you too and is so hope all is well.

I remember being in your position and ten payments later I feel so much better, I feel normal again. I do hope you get sorted and you'll not be wrong with Melanie, through my initial troubles of IVA she sorted me out 100%. I could never promote her as an IP enough. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

The phonecalls can get to you - either don't answer them, or write what you want to say on paper and read it out calmly. Try to remember the people making the calls don't know about your personal circumstances and they are only doing their job. Easy for me to say now as I remember getting the calls on a Sunday morning and completely losing it [:D]

You'll be perfectly safe in Melanie's hands. I know it's hard but try not to worry. You've done the hardest bit. We've all been there and come out out of it relatively sane! Have a look through some of the other posters blogs, they'll help put your mind at ease.

its just until i get some advice-which i know will be soon what do you say?
i cant say to them im in an iva yet, they always want a date youre paying or preferably debit card payment
and i dont even think you can do that if youre planning an iva can you ?
id rather leave it to answerphone. i cant handle talking to them at min and i hate lying and i dont want to make false promises just to shut them up.x

You will get called 7 days a week, usually between 8am and 9pm, although some people have had call outside this period.

If you do answer them, be prepared for the person on the other end to try and bully you into making a payment, they are on commission, so it is in their best interests to get money out of you. Some of them will tell you that you won't be able to get an IVA - IGNORE THEM! They aren't the ones who vote so it's just a scare tactic.

If you have caller display, at least you can check that it isn't anyone you know before deciding whether to ignore it or not.

Change your number and go ex directory - that way they can't reach you.

Everyone deals with the calls differently and it has no effect on the outcome of the iva. I totally ignored all mine!! If I answered I told them I wasn't in!
Changing your number at this stage is a good idea or calling them and asking them to remove your number especially if they have your work number.
If you do speak to them, be firm polite and don't let them bully you. Just remember you can hang up at any time.
You can also unplug the phone and ask friends/family to use the mobile, tell them you're having connection problems!
