My mum has got Sky and wants to upgrade to Sky+ but when I asked for her I was told she would have to pay full price! I think I'll get her to ring up and say she's going to leave if they don't do some sort of deal for her - whether or not she'll do that I don't know as she's worried she might upset them!

Blimey that is good.
We got Sky HD when it first came out so had to pay full wack for it (pre IVA!).
I would be lost without being able to rewind and pause my telly!!!!
It comes into it's own in football season too!!!

Zoe - I just complained. They really don't want to lose you. Apparently someone in work told me if you've been a sky customer for over 6years you can get sky+ free if you phone up. Don't know if its true - I wanted HD as well so thats why I'm paying £49. I would have cancelled and resigned as a new customer if I had to. I hate being ripped off.

I'll be able to see the footballers in a sharper image and watch them over and over again lol

Once you have watched the football in HD, you won't want to watch it on the 'normal' channel again. it does make a difference.
Also when you get it, look at the discovery HD channel, some of the programmes - the quality of picture is amazing.
There are alot more channels now, but at first there were onloy a couple and it wasn't really worth getting.

I called Sky to downgrade to the lowest TV package they do (I have my broadband and calls through them). They said they could offer me a the full package for £16 pm. Since then I have done this 4 times and each time they leave me on the full package - they don't want to lose customers!
IVA completed September 2014. Finaly debt free - final dividend 88p/£

I called their bluff and went through the cancellation process, been with them for around 15 years so thought they would want to retain me.

No, they went ahead and cancelled the account rather than give me a free sky+ / multi-room subscription which they gave me initially by mistake for free when I downgraded to the basic package.

To try to get them to own up to that mistake, they took the subscription out for 2 months then cancelled the one card, I called them up to complain and they said that multiroom was a extra £10 a month. I told them they had not charged me the first 2 months so why have they done this. They would not even admit to making a mistake and denied I had it.

I was totally disgusted with them, and like you say it's all "Brand new customer only" with them kind of reminds me of that nationwide advertisement.
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Ang - HD is supposed to make the picture a lot sharper -almost like being there in person, I think.

I'll let you know when I get it.

Thats great PD - or maybe not . Isn't it awful you have to do that to get a better deal?

Think of the profit they must be making anyway.
