I am canlleing my SKY and mt TV rental. I can save 50.00 and I will just have a small TV and the normal channels. If i cancel them do you think I could get them back later on-mind you the TV on Sky is nothing but repeats

You may be able to do so,and I reckon when you do cancel they will try and do you a better deal anyway.

You can always get yourself a Freeview box.

I use freeview after cancelling Sky and it does me fine, the only thing I found Sky good for was Sports and all the games on sky are available live via an internet stream.

Sky would be the last thing to go! The only thing I really watch is sport and although I have watched the streamed games the picture quality is appalling and they tend to freeze.

If we did have to get rid of it, I would have Freesat rather than Freeview. We've got all 3 and after Sky Freesat is the best.

dont be too hard on yourself-you dont have to do without everything on the iva-i would at least keep the telly - are the payments for this coming out of your disposable income?

First thing i did was get rid of sky, but after so many years you do miss it. I miss the sports, wrestling, football and currently the cricket, im hoping my IP is kind to me on my next review and i will get it streamed via my xbox, month by month payment which will do the trick for me.

The cricket is one of the main reasons for keeping Sky for me. I love football, but I could get ESPN on it's own, but the cricket isn't shown anywhere else.

Canaries, do you watch the football on your laptop, or through the TV?

Via my laptop, I haven't got the leads to do it via the TV and my wife loves it that way, she even instructs me to turn the sound down but that was a step to far so I bluntly refused and turned it up.

Ive not got an allowance for sky, from what i can gather ive got an older style IVA where sky payments wasn't allowed when i took out my IVA, i do have the £6 a month for my iphone, but tbh its not the same will cancel that and use the money towards the xbox viewing, thats £34 a month and includes sky sports so all sorted, but will wait for my review before i do anything.

I cancelled Sky when I started my IVA but went back to them two years later with no problem. It's also declared on my latest Income & Expenditure form with my IVA company.

I joined Sky with phone, satellite and broadband mid-way through IVA without a problem. Only have the basic package as I sadly can't afford the sports channels for hubby but it suits us, it was cheaper than phone and broadband separately. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I was allowed £31 in my I&E for Sky/phone/broadband. My broadband was free as it was base but I`ve gone over my usage limit twice in the last six months so Sky have automatically put me on unlimited which is going to be an extra £7 per month.
The Sky TV package we have is actually more than my I&E states because we have the full channels package and because of non inclusive phone calls, but up to now I`ve made it up out of my other allowances.
When I first started IVA proceedings I downgraded to a basic channel package...I lasted two weeks and had to upgrade again, didn`t realise how much we`d miss it.
I guess the time may come in the future when I have to downgrade again, just Have to see how things go.
