They will knock 50% off for 6 months!!!!

I actually did that --- thing is I really meant to. Was going to go Freeview. They did offer 6 months at half price --- when that's up I will cancel. Actually, having said that --- if I save £30 a month by cancelling sky --I'll have to pay it to the IVA. Oh well .....

I have absolutely no wish to. I've got TV, phone and Broadband with them and I'm not messing about with trying to get a reduction.

I think Sky tend to offer reductions to people who phone to cancel subscriptions only in areas where they have competition, i.e cable. Whilst I was at my IVA proposal stage I downgraded my sky package to basic and even flirted with cancelling it completely whilst on the phone to the Sky advisor, she just said "Do you want to downgrade or cancel Sir,the choice is yours".
We don`t have cable here so can`t get Virgin or BT.
I ended up reinstating my full subscription two weeks later as we missed Sky Sports too much...

We have that problem Goosed, and to be honest, even if we had cable here I'd rather pay Sky double!

Freeview is ok, but until they get Sky Sports I'm not interested.

I don't have cable or would have switched long ago.
I wanted to reduce outgoings. I wanted to stop paying but decided to take the offer.
They try to keep u with half price for 6 months as standard.
All my friends and family have done it.
Didn't think I'd get negative response sharing this TBH.
Yes we take on these packages but these companies screw us so often, what's wrong with a little come back???

Going by the responses here it doesn't appear that they offer 6 months half price as standard.

I don't feel that we are 'screwed' by Sky at all, in fact since we've changed our broadband and phone to them we have saved money.

We are with Virgin and have been thinking about switching to Sky for quite a while now as the bills are ridiculous for virgin and the service is rubbish. TV On Demand is never working and the channels sometimes go on and off and its always freezing. ARGH!

we cancelled sky hd recently as we cant see the difference on tv-only had it 6 months and no charge for getting rid of it even though we got the sky hd box free!! that saves just over a tenner a month.Also cancelled movies but were offered them half price - still not worth it so got rid.
A heck of a lot of companies will give you extra reductions on their rates if you tell them you cant renew due to cost;our aol broadband is down to 9.99 for life(standard 14.99) because we said we couldnt afford more.Orange mobile has given me and hubby 5.00 a month contracts down from 20 a month even though not due for renewal for a good 6 months yet(50 mins and 50 texts).Kept bt for phone line but got the 4.99 deal for unlimited calls-so use mobile to call mobile and landline to landline thus few call charges.
I have admitted to the iva when speaking to companies and am not ashamed and told each firm that we have very little allowance for each service-basically told them what we can pay and mainly got what we said we can afford!!!Managers are authorised to lower advertised rates on a lot of the above mentioned at their discretion-orange customer services told me this so i went through everything on our expenditure and saved a good few quid.If you have been a loyal customer they really dont want to lose you so go on-get cheeky!!!!!
Just to add;
British Gas will let you change your tariff online every time a better deal comes along-no fees for doing this if you have duel fuel with them.

i,m with virgin its a good service and had no problems.i haggled with them and got a discount.i,ll do the same when my contracts up.ive had both dish and cable tv,personally found cable more reliable,bad weather can distort the signal from a house dish sometimes in my exprience.
