Grrrrr! BT! I can't stand that company and I can't wait to move so that we can get away from them - sadly apart from the phone line. Their broadband is rubbish (and very overpriced), their customer service is appalling and they are very pushy.

Right, I'll hop down off my soapbox now!

IPs should not automatically exclude clients expenditure. That is a decision for creditors, and usually the basic mobile phone, internet and Sky packages are allowable.

Think my IP must have come from the dark ages as I was given no allowance for my mobile phone at all! I still kept it as I was still under contract and I drive approx 45 minutes each way to work!

Since finding this site I find it quite interesting as to what people are allowed etc!

Thanks to every one for the replies.
I now have one more question, a little off topic I know but hope is ok to post here!!
We received our new bank account details today for the natwest.
We have requested an account with no credit at all.
They have sent us a service card which is maestro, no OD but I noticed that the service card has got a 250 cheque guarantee limit, hopefully this will not be classed as credit.
Can one of you shed some light on it for me as we have now transferred all our Direct debits and such

Thanks

You should be ok - I was allowed to keep my chequebook when I was in my IVA.

Hi Gordon
Just to correct you.
A £250 cheque guarantee card means that the bank will honour that cheque for an amount upto £250 regardless of the amount in your account,so anyone dishonest could rack up a huge overdraft.

Got my proposals back from IP today signed and sent back already....watch this space...
Also one question I have, The Ip have changed our monthly net wage income by more than 300 pounds this being a result of us being paid 4 weekly and the allowable amounts being worked out monthly.
If the IVA is successful, can someone just confirm that it is the norm for payments into the IVA to be made monthly and not 4 weekly!!

Thanks
James

Hi James

I have a number of clients who make their payments on a four-weekly basis rather than monthly, and I am sure that your own IP will accomodate this. Have a word with them.

The IVA proposal, however, will show monthly amounts so as not to confuse creditors. So you would basically take the figures shown in the proposal, multiply it by 12 and divide by 13 to get the equivalent four-weekly sum necessary to be paid over.
