Hi, we tried to include sky, but we were told we couldn't! We've only had freeview since and it's fine. We were also told we couldn't have broadband and to stick with dial-up, but managed to keep it in the end.

Who told you you could not have Sky TV or broadband JoJo? Your IP or your creditors?

I don't know why they would have told you that - both Sky TV and the internet are allowable items by all creditors.

I think at the time they said we had to get rid of it to reduce our outgoings so we could make our monthly payments higher. I believe they told my oh that they wouldn't proceed with our iva otherwise.

Charming! And well done to you for managing to stick to that rigid payment plan. I personally feel it ought to be up to creditors to decide whether your expenditure is reasonable or not.

Thanks Melanie. To be honest we were quite happy to do it as we needed to sort ourselves out. Our view was that it's only TV. We haven't had it that bad! There's people with worse problems!

That's a very honourable way to view it Jojo [:)]

We do seem to have got used to what are, essentially, luxuries which is often part of the reason we are in debt.

Thanks Til, Soulgrowth. We did in the end get to keep broadband. I really don't miss the sky as I now spend more time doing fun things with the kids and doing more of the things I always wanted to do instead of living my life by what TV programmes I wanted to watch. (I do miss Living though!)

With BT Broadband internet you can get a set top box added on for £30 one off connection charge and some low cost pay per view and does what Sky box do anyway and one better as it can do High Definition in Sept!! Sky must not be allowed to monopolise......right BT, Virgin???
