slow cooker!!

Put joint of beef in slow cooker last night on low and left until this morning!! Was fantastic, also made gravy with juices. Mmm!! Will definetly find more things to do!!

Any tips??

I used my slow cooker alot.Really useful when working all day.I often put a layer of sliced potato on the top and brown off in oven before serving.Easy.Cat

Hey, couldnt believe this heading, heard a crash this morning and the lid from my slow cooker bit the dust, courtessy of Syra, had a funeral, I am in mourning. I use it all the time. Anyway then, after emptying the litter box, the black bag in the garden room broke spilling food waste and cat ****e everywhere, just cleaned it all up and went to refill the litter tray and bang the handles on the litter bag broke and whooose, stttttzzzzz the lot ended up on the floor. Decided that I might lock myself in a cupboard for the rest of the day... But I didnt, having a lovely day really and I think I can replace the lid as there is a spare parts whizzz bang thing which I found with the stuckie book.

Thanks Becky a couple of people have offered me one for free but that was a pressie from my kids for mothers day, its one of those that you boil up on the cooker first and I loved it. I will borrow one until I cant replace the lid. I just couldnt believe the heading when I took a look at the forum this morning as I was still in mourning, lol. Mind you brand new at 7, that is a bargain. We are getting an asda here soon, trouble is people keep opposing it.

Sorry about the link, I never tried it before I listed it. If you go to floodle website there are loads of ebooks to download. Just had a quick look and they all seem to be zipped files but they are easy to open, like I said in the other post just follow the instructions and click 'open' or 'yes'.

Hi Angela,

I like to make spaghetti bolognase in my slow cooker, if ur in a hurry simply empty jar of dolmio and the mince into it. Stir once and leave to cook. When have more time, also put in onion/garlic maybe dash of wine etc.

another good tip when doing beef is to add red onions, garlic and mushrooms, and 1 hour prior to serving add cornflour (mix in glass first with water to make paste) and the cornflour will thicken the juice up to make nice gravy.

Made simple stew on Monday too, diced beef, oniion, carrots, potatoes and then the flour 1 hour prior to serve. Yummy!

it was Skippy, had some brown rice as a healthy option.. got the rest for lunch at work today.. on green day today so more rice than chilli.. think thats how it works!!
