Hi. My husband and I are in an IVA (commenced March this year) and he runs his own small business, when we tried to renew the Public Liability Insurance they quoted us triple, yes TRIPLE the normal price. Needless to say we are still shopping around :-(

Hi all,

Thanks for responses.
A small cake making and decorating business registered as soletrader. I work full time so this would only be a part time/sporadic occupation in addition to the day job. More of a hobby that occasionally pays me! I'm not sure if it's even mandatory to have insurance but it seems like something I should have! But it might cost me more than I would make! Also, I don't know how this would effect my IVA payments as I know 50% of any additional earnings are payable into the IVA which is fair enough but as this would not be a regular/guarenteed income I don't know how that would work... if anybody has any knowledge about that I would be grateful to hear it.
Many thanks - Rachel

Seem very unfair that people who are trying resolve their debt problems should be be penalised by having to pay triple rates!

If you contact me off Forum, I will be happy to get you a quotation.

It has taken nearly two years to arrange, but we finally have agreement upfront from Ageas Insurance Ltd (formerly Fortis) that we can confirm in writing that when they are aware of a Client being in an IVA this does not affect the insurance at all, nor does it increase the premium.
