Hey - I used to be a Trolly Dolly back in the 80s - made the mistake of marrying a pilot - a senior Captain...!! Divorced a LONG time ago - one of MANY mistakes I have made - the marriage that is, NOT the divorce!! [:)]

I must admit that once I admitted my problems and started the ball rolling I felt a whole lot better, and once my IVA had been approved I could just see the faintest glimmer at the end of the tunnel, which should start getting brigter each month.

As Octavia says, the relief when you don't dread the postman calling or the phone ringing is great.

Wow drowning mummy you've certainly been busy. It took me a while after I decided what I was going to do to actually do it. You will still have down moments the thing to remember is that these are normal and you're not to feel bad about yourself in these moments. Just come on the forum and talk to us all.

Thank you Sue and Kellis.
Its been a busy few hours.
Everything filed nice and neat now, from statements to loan agreements with account/ref numbers etc.
We owe just over £24k to 14 creditors. Hubby just below £14k and me just over £10k, although the spending was definitely 50/50.
Off to the park now to jump in muddy puddles with the girls and get some much needed air!

Cant believe I missed out on this thread... Talk about feel good factor!

Hey drowning Mummy, just to echo everyone else's sentiments. Don't worry what your feeling is perfectly normal, I've just done three years & still remember the feelings of hopelessness & shame, though the only unwanted post nowadays is my birthday cards reminding me I'm getting old.

I know 14 creditors & 25k seems like a lot of debt but I think you've been really strong to react early enough to get a grip of it, some of us on this site were in a much worse situation.
I sold my house and released 40k of equity & STILL had to iva 36K.

The biggest change I've noticed is which friends stayed when I no longer had the batchelors pad, flash motor & parties.
its a marathon not a sprint!

I'm out of my mind but please leave a message!

yeah I bet you definetly know who your friends are once you're skint.. no one knows about IVA but they know we are "tightening our belts"!! IVA came at a good time when hubbys overtime stopped.. perfect excuse.. we spend alot of time at friends houses with bottle of wine, a cooked meal & walk home, cost £5 for wine and a bunch of flowers for host.. BRILLIANT and we love it!!

You certainly appreciate the simpler things in life... The weather has been so great this week I took my dog into the hills for a really long walk which I've not done for months, the sunshine, the freedom, the space to think & talk to the dog, who generally doesn't reply much. It makes you realise there's so much more to life than money.

Money doesn't make the world go round it merely oils the cogs.

exactly.. and the dog doesn't answer back!!

I'm quite liking the simpler things in life camping etc.. fresh air is free and theres loads of it (in the right places, not so fresh in others)
