There's such a lot of things I want once I've finished the IVA and retired (the two pretty much coincide). First up is the holiday and then a new suite - ours is a bit battered with three dogs leaping over it!

I take it your landlord is sorting out the damp Helen?

It'll be great when you have it Helen. There's no way I would move anywhere without gas central heating now. When we moved we turned down a couple of houses as they didn't have it, and it was near the top of my list!

I could not live in a house without gas central heating now! Makes me shudder just to think about it.

The mess will go Helen and you'll wonder how you ever managed.

Hi all,

Just as update. The review went ok with no changes. Were now into year 4 although recent announcements are a real worry. I am in the earnings group most likey to be affected by the changes and will lose the child benefits that we have come to rely on. Good news is the car finance is finally paid off, bad news is train fare is going up 10% in Jan, so the small benefit will be short lived. The papers say train fares will also increase by another 10% next year, so my Reading to Waterloo ticket will cost me another £700 per year! Christ knows where that is going to come from!

This Month has been a killer. BIG unexpected car bill on my car (exhaust literally just fell off 2 says before MOT due) and my Wifes has so many things wrong we have had to take it off the road for now. Our money all but dried up a week after last pay day. We spent the last 3 weeks literally scraping the bottom of the chest freezer and running the car as little as possible on fumes and the rent has gone up £50 per Month. It just keeps coming. We are hanging on with our finger tips at the moment although with just 21 more payments, we WILL see this through no matter what. But I sure wouldnt mind a break - a bit of good luck, just for a change?!

I hope life is being kinder to you all.

Andy

Glad the review went ok but I can understand how worrying a time it is for you with all the cuts.

I hope you can get yourself back on your feet now, you do deserve a break.

Fingers crossed that the cars remain ok now.

Good luck, I admire your determination and hope the rest of the IVA goes smoothly.

Hi all and Happy New Year. Well, dont things have a habit of turning?! Just before Christmas, we had a bit of good luck selling some old bits of tut on ebay - we then had some more good luck in a series other things and before we knew it our bank balance was able to breathe properly for the first time in a few years. I managed to stave off the train fare increase, at least for one year by buying a 12 month season ticket and so secured the pre-increase price thanks to a frindly interest free loan (from family) and we got the cars back on the road by some DIY and good negotiating, so here we are a few Months later and smiling again. Now we are just 19 payments short of freedom and as our spending patterns are VERY select, do not expect the 20% VAT to make too much of a differance to us. So all is good and were off to a good penultimate year of IVA payments. Thanks Kallis, your wish of us deserving a break worked with the Gods!
