Back in November 2008 I got done for speeding in outr village 42 mph in a 40 anyway I forgot to send the drivers details .... it was me and I got fined £395.
Well I could'nt even think to start to pay being in IVA and tried my best to negotiate with enforcement office to pay weekly but they would not agree and did not acknowledge my IVA, they sent me back to court (magistrates) yesterday 22nd. I arrived and had a meeting with fines officer, who dod not know what an IVA said court debt was priority and he could send me to prison!! I started to cry (no solictiors available)Eventually I got an usher to help and went in to face the magistrates who were lovely but even the magistates did not know what an IVA was....the clerk to the court explained to them and actually told them that the debt was not a priority debt and was unsecured and therefore very low on the list of creditors. He then asked why it was not included in IVA I told them IVA was negotiated in 2005. So after lots of whispering they remitted fine to £100 and I had already paid £40 they then said if I paid another £40 they would settle for £80.00. (I had saved £8 over the last 5 weeks) He acknowledge my limited income and praised me for dong so well trying to sort out my debts. Just thought this might help anyone else facing a fine! [:)][:D]

Good result well done. [:)]

It is amazing how many people even in financial roles do not know what an IVA is. The cashier in Halifax bank tried to get me to upgrade my account, I told him I couldn't due to IVA. He didn't have a clue what it was!

A lot of people don't know, and it is usually the ones in the financial industry who plead ignorance!

Well done on getting your parking fine reduced.

I'm surprised though that you were done. I have just checked to make sure, but the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) guidlines for speeding offences to all police forces in England and Wales, are to allow 10% discrepancy on speedometers (as your won't be calibrated), plus 2 miles an hour. Therefore, under those guidlines, you shouldn't have been prosecuted for under 46 miles per hour. I would certainly have disputed that when the ticket arrived, but of course you wouldn't have known that.

Also, you should be able to get away with it - you obviously had a premonition - November 2008?????
