Oh I'm the horrible Mother and demand the bedroom is cleaneed weekly, she also has to dust the cd racks downstairs and the wine bottles and gets £5.00 for doing so. I'm too organised and have all kinds of rotas for housework, menus etc., I'd love to live differently but just can't. Just to impulse go out or something as everything is like a military operation to me.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I dread to think what sort of state any place my daughter got would be in.

Last year she was in rooms at Uni. We went up, helped her move in etc.

For her final year she is electing to stay at home (not stupid is she?). We were not allowed to go up to her rooms to bring everythng back............I wonder why? She has bought back a full can of polish!!!!!!!!! Toilet cleaner is almost full (I dread to think what that must have been like!)

Ang, her wardrobe is a nightmare! Everything just gets shoved out of sight.

What is it with youngsters today? I just despair!!!!!!!!

I think I was the same....[:I]

When I got my first house at 18 nd little one came along 10 days later [:0][:I]

The house was a mess! It took me about 18 months to get myself organised enough to get the house tidy and keep it that way. I really struggled. I just couldn't seem to do it.

I think that is why I am hard on him now, I want him to be self sufficient and have an idea about washing machines and ironing etc. He put the washer o today and sorted the clothes out. He also helps me cook. I feel bad sometimes but anything couldhappen and he needs to know.........I'm glad your manic too Lesley I don't feel quite as bad lol [:D]

Mine can wash and iron, and is even capable of cleaning up after boyfriend has been on a bender! His house, not mine by the way! She just seems to switch off when she is at home.

We went away for a week last year to Cornwall, dad left her some meals already done in the freezer. She even had to phone to ask how long they should go in the microwave for!!!!!

She doesn't cook at all(mind you, neither do I anymore, hubbie does it all!)

I would love her to be different, but even after all the shouting, nagging and threatening over the years I don't think it's going to happen!

The thing with an IVA is that as you say you feel like going on a spending spree, but you have to think DO I REALLY NEED IT!!!

I Used to go out and buy DVD's, CD's, Clothes from River Island and all sorts.
I don't know what it is but i couldn't careless about money and spent wildly and willy nilly.

NOW!!! i watch every penny and realise that Money is so IMPORTANT!!! and should be spent WISELY!!
NOT SELFISHLY!!!!!!.

I am 8 months into my IVA and i see it as a CHALLENGE!!!.
I still have my entire collection of CD's
I still have my entire collection of DVD's
I still have all my Nice Clothes
I still have my 2 HD Televisions
I still have my 3 piece leather suite
I still have my PC Computer to go on IVA Forum
I still have my 2 Daughters
I still have my WIFE
i still have a Three Bedroomed House with a Roof over my Head.
I still have SKY TV but on a Basic Package which they allow you!!!
Why do i need all the MOVIES and SPORTS!!
I still have a CAR! that is economical and cheap
and hardly costs anything.
I still have a good job
I still sleep in a luxury bed!!
I still have a mobile phone
I still have an I Pod
I still come home to a Dinner
I still have a Nice Life!!!
I Don't Drink!!
I Don't Smoke!!!

WHAT DO I NEED TO SPEND MY MONEY ON!!!!

I am not saying that you have to live like a MONK!!
and you should once in a while be able to have a TREAT!!!
i mean the money i have left over will usually be spent on taking my Family Swimming or to the Cinema.
I usually TREAT myself to a game of SNOOKER!! against my Dad!! for a few hours
once a Month.
The rest of the money will be kept for everyday necessities .

The way i save money is

I Take my own Tea , Sugar and Milk to work

I Take my own Sandwiches , Fruit and Crisps to
Work.(Packed Lunch)

I Read the METRO!! on Mondays and Tuesdays

I Read the SUN!! Wednesday to Saturday.

I belong to local Library

I can download movies and music online.

I only use my mobile for incoming calls,
i use the work phone for outgoing calls in the daytime.

BY CUTTING BACK DURING THE WEEKDAYS!!!
YOU CAN SAVE THE MONEY FOR WHEN YOU NEED IT TO HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND AND HAVE THOSE FAMILY TREATS!!!

DON'T WASTE MONEY ON NEEDLESS THINGS!!!

I decided at the beginning that I was going to allow myself one luxury item (obviously not expensive). I thought of something that I could buy a cheaper version of, but I would miss if I didn't have it, so I carried on buying Flying Fox shower gel from Lush! It smells lovely, and even the smallest bottle lasts for ages.

I think even if we are in an IVA or DMP or we are bankrupt we deserve a treat now and then, whether it's a bar of chocolate, bottle of wine or CD (or shower gel!).

Let me get one thing clear to Fellow IVA'ers on the Forum.

1. YOU ARE NOT POOR!!!!!
You are not Homeless or on the Streets
or Starving Going through Bins and have not lost anything.
You are being EDUCATED!!! on HOW TO HANDLE MONEY!!!

2.YOU!!! are solving your Debt Issues Legally.
Once this small period in your life is concluded YOU will be debt free!!!

3.

it is surprising how much you can save on doing simple things like taking packed lunches, belonging to the library. The other week I invited friends round for the evening got a DVD from the Library for £2 for 3 days loan, friends brought food and provided them with some wine not much as they were driving we had a great evening and it cost me less than £10.
So no hardship but not too much cash[;)]

My night consists of a bottle of Rose, which a very special collegue bought me as part of my leaving gift. Also we had the full Sky plus package which I have obviously brought down to 21.00 per month so I am taking full advantage of all the rubbish you force yourself to watch coz you are paying for it!! before they remove it!

There is nerver anything on anyway - i should have done it ages ago.
When will this all end?

Imagine those people who decide to go through extreme hardship or challenges like.

Walk to the North or South Pole
Climb Mount Everest and get frostbite
Fight for Queen and Country in Afghanistan Or Iraq
Walk the Sahara Desert.
Go and Train for Marathons or Tri-Athlons
Join the SAS or Royal Marines.
Go to Prison

Our Challenge is,
Go through an IVA for 60 months

In the end it really is some sort of Achievement
because

1. You have come out the other side
2. You can advise other people who are in Debt
and are in the same situation as you 60 months prior!!!

3. You are FREE from Debt , which is your Olympic Gold Medal.
