If someone entering an IVA is married, is it a requirement that the spouse also subscribes to the IVA, or are two married people treated independently for IVA purposes?

Everyone is looked at as an individual as sometimes one may be insolvent and the other not. If both are insolvent you can do IVAs together or separately and your IP firm will discuss this with you.

Does your spouse have debts of their own GD.23?

No debts, and probably not even a presence in the credit reference agencies - has never taken on any debt yet.

If that is the case your spouse will have nothing to do with the IVA. As long as they pay their fair share of the bills any surplus income of their own is excluded.

Hi gd.23, your IVA payment will only be based on your disposable income provided that your spouse only has their fair share as well (I.e the household bills are split fairly). If you have a joint account you may want to look at changing that and also your spouse may want to put a notice of their credit record disassociating them from your IVA but all this can be explained to you when you have a chat wi a couple of experts.

Have you sought any advice yet or is this forum your first enquiry?
