I had a promotion a few years ago, on the back of a special Government run project. A week before I was due to take up post the project was cancelled .... so was the promotion !!!

Story of my life!

This is what makes me really mad... they advertise posts, expend more money interviewing and selecting, costs of corresponding etc. cost of work lost whilst interviews carried out. They then select and inform the successful candidates.

It is only then they realise they have made a mistake or broken the rules surrounding recruitment.... that they cancel the posts. Total waste of public funds, on top of destroying peoples hopes.

Seen it too many times for my liking.

I am one of the old school civil servants - have the choice to use some of the lump sum to increase pension if I go at 50. I'm gonna have to go before 2015 as I am not going to start to pay into a pension when the job was always sold to me as being paid less than a private sectors managers salary because of non-contributory pension rights. Of course if they give me a 5k payrise I may reconsider. lol

Yeah, Kazza, I (possibly stupidly) transferred my pot over to Premium, so no lump, but it's a 1/60th scheme, as opposed to a 1/80th.

We are currently awaiting the outcome of a group grievance (which I am sure we will lose) the going to Tribunal. Won't get us anywhere, but it's something to do to take the mind off exactly how cheesed off we are !!!!

I am hoping that I can still go at 60 - been working now for 40 years and have had enough.

I should get a lump sum (hopefully) so can conclude my IVA on time.
