Dear All,

Thank you ever so much for the welcome and reassurance it is so appreciated.

I was with payplan for my DMP, they too told me to do a DMP before moving onto a iva, because I was at uni and my income had fallen. But in hindsight I should have done an iva ages ago, apart from probably being almost finished by now. Any increase in my income, would have been welcomed by the creditors as is now.
VB and Tina, have been wonderful in these early stages answering my queries and putting my mind at ease when dealing with some of my creditors especially the payday loan companies (they can be so aggressive).

Mel - I will send you a email to give you some more background.

I am happy I'm doing the right thing, just wish I had done it ages ago. Also, I too have told a few friends and family but not all like my parents, they think I'm a disappointment anyway so I'm not fuelling their belief any more lol.

I know it will be hard, but I also know I will be better off, in that I can start to enjoy life with my son, and hopefully my mental health will improve. I've been suffering with depression from when my first DMP started in 2006. I just hope my proposal when prepared is accepted.

Many thanks, Charlygirl

charlygirl... welcome to the forum

you have taken a really responsible step to deal with your debts and can hold your head up high. I only wish when i was in a dire financial mess 7-8 years ago i had been aware of this forum ( not sure if it existed then, but wasnt aware even if it did )

i was going to wish you luck, but You wont need luck if Mel is your IP, as whilst i wasnt with Mel, Mel recieves no detrimental comments at all on this forum and is always the understanding voice of reason in her replies, which are numerous and often in the early hours of the morning

Hi Charlygirl.
It`s difficult for most people who post on here to compare different providers because by definition people have to stick with the one they choose for the duration.
I spoke to three, based on my viewing of this forum, before deciding and went with Payplan, mostly based on the trust I felt from a few telephone conversations. I have no complaints.
They have also led the way recently with their "mass variation" initiative which protects clients from any delays for completion certificates going forward.
Good luck on your journey [:)]

Hi Charlygirl, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I only found this site months after I started the IVA. I did a DMP for 12 mths then was advised to do an IVA by the DMP company who suggested the company Im with now. IF I had found this site earlier I would defo have gone with Mel. There is nothing but praise on here for her and her team. Good luck on your jounrney and be re assured you are in safe hands. Even though I dont post on here that often I visit most days and its this site keeps me sane!

Good evening All!

I a few questions, I hope you can help with. Excuse me if they have been asked before.

Firstly, how do I email Melanie through the forum? and Secondly how long does it take to get to Creditors Meeting stage. I believe Melanie's team should have my documents this week.

Many thanks again.

Charlygirl

Hi. You can get Melanie's contact details through the "Ask a Question" link (top left). Or by searching for her profile using the members tab at the top.

The time taken to draft a proposal depends upon the complexity of a case and the quality of the paperwork supplied --- usually around 8 weeks.

From Melanie getting the signed proposal back it will take about three weeks to arrange the meeting ( the creditors have to be given a minimum of 16 days.)

My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Many thanks Foggy for getting back to me so quickly. I can only hope that as I have no property and it will a 5 year IVA then the proposal stage will be quick.

I'm already tired of creditors calling Lol. I do hope that it is accepted. From looking at the surplus and debt outstanding it looks as if they will be getting approx 44p/£.

Regards
Charlygirl

Charlygirl - Cant really add anything to what Foggy has mention - 44p/£ is a very good dividend.

IVA can be hard at times - but at least there is an end to it after 5/6 years. Hang in there it wont be long !!

Charlygirl - Make sure you get a new bank account if they are a creditor.
Then once you have got the ball rolling you can tell the people who call for money about having none, and explain you`re in the IVA process. I recall in our case some of them stop the calls for a month (might have been Barclays) in the period during applying and getting the creditors meeting.

44p/£ is a very good dividend - Melanie had mine accepted at half that, but each case is different and as long as creditors can see that the best possible dividend is being proposed, there is no reason for them not to accept it, I am sure you will be fine, good luck and be sure to let us all know how things progress.

Good afternoon all, thanks again. UpToMyNeck that is reassuring to hear thank you.
I do worry that due to me being in a DMP for 6 years the creditors I have now, many are DCA’s with my biggest debt an old Lloyds TSB loan now with a DCA. How do they vote generally? I’m so scared they will say NO especially the more aggressive ones.

You know what I'm going stop worry and see what happens. They can't have any more than what I can give I give them. And it's better to get something than, less or nothing.

Kind regards
Charlygirl

Charlygirl the best thing is to try not to worry and see what happens. I'm sure one of our experts will be able to say how people vote in the main. You're also correct in saying they can't have more than you can give.

I'm sincerely hope it all works out fine, all the best and do keep us updated. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
