Morning Guys. In the last couple of days, I have received a bank statement and two credit card statements. The bank statement is showing a £25 charge which is for our unpaid loan with the same bank but completely unrelated to our bank account! The credit cards are still showing late fees and interest which has been applied AFTER our IVA has was approved on 25/7/08.

Is this normal and just a case that the paperwork hasn't filtered down to the relevant departments? What happens to these charges that have been applied after the date, do they get refunded or is it a case of, at the date of the creditors meeting, we owed what we owed and that is what the IVA is based on. Sorry to sound confusing, but I am confused myself!! [:)] Cheers, Kazzy x
There is light at the end of that dark tunnel. Promise.

Hey Kazzy, I think the balances are all verified before your creditors meeting so I'm sure they can't just add interest and charges on afterwards, but to be honest, I'm not sure. Send them to your IP, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. Hope you're feeling a bit better today. [:)] X

Hi Kazzy it wont make any difference and will go on their balance owed, dont worry. I was asked the other eweek after 20 months of being in an iva to make a full balance payment on one, i quite enjoyed ringing to tell them about the iva, which I am sure they already knew about. Our banks added lots of charges before the iva was approved due to their loans not going out, just post the statements on to your IP.

Abby, don't worry, they did the same with me. The overdraft, whatever that ends up being will just be included in the IVA. X

Any charges they put on after the IVA is approved can't be claimed by them.

Abby, HSBC took money out for our loans every month - then put it back because we were overdrawn on the overdraft! And they charged us for the privilege!!!!!!!!

They will keep doing it until you have been approved, but it will all go into your IVA, so don't worry.

I would try and close the account, but they may not let you as you owe them money.
