Hi Could anyone tell me if they still receive bank, creditcard, store card statements after you get accepted for an IVA? Or is it just for the first couple of months until it has gone through the system?

Not usually - but they may continue to trickle through for the first couple of months.

Our IVA was agreed on 13th August yet my husband continued to receive not only statements from Abbey National but threatening letters & phone messages plus cards to say they were going to call at the house. We tended to ignore it until last week when my husband phoned them, to which they said they still had received no knowledge of our IVA being accepted, in fact, they thought it had been rejected! After a few phone calls to our IP, this thankfully has now been sorted.

I've only just stopped getting Littlewoods statements and my IVA was approved 14 months ago and I've been bankrupt for 9 months! I think Littlewoods are a bit slow on the uptake to say the least!

hi chris26

My iva was accepted on 5th November this year and I have not recieved one statement since, and I did have lots of creditors.
It is amazing going to get the post and having nothing there some days.

Hi. I am awaiting my creditors meeting too. Do I keep all my creditors statements or not. Or how long should I keep them for ??
Also I still have all my credit cards although I have not used them for 2 months now. Should I return them back to the relevant companies or should I just get rid of them ?? what has everyone else done ?
53 down 7 to go !!
Cant wait till December 2012

I asked my IP the same question, she said I could either:
a) destroy them myself,
b) send them back (minimum) recorded delivery, or
c) send them to her and she will forward them to the creditors as and when they request them.

I plumped for option c.

Again, all correspondence (including statements) have been forwarded (originals, I haven't bothered with copies - I can get them off my IP if I need them) to my IP as well.

Certain creditors of mine asked for the cards back, but I had destroyed them anyway as soon as I knew I was in financial difficulty and they seemed fine about this as they had cancelled the cards anyway.
HSBC asked for debit cards and unused cheques to be destroyed and returned to them within 7 days, which I did.

Any letters/defaults I recieved while waiting for my meeting were faxed to my IP as I think its best to keep them updated with correspondance.

My statements all stopped within a couple of months and as for the cards, we had a little ceremony involving scissors and a bottle of wine (the latter not essential, but somehow added to the sense of occasion).

What I did keep getting till I phoned and requested thy stop, was offers of loans from two of my creditors, the RBS especially keen it seemed to lend me pretty much any sum, even after I'd been in the IVA for over 6 months..... Laughable really!!!
