I entered into an IVA on 25th February 2002. I was under the impression that my credit history would be clear after 6 years. I completed the IVA early and paid it off in 2005. I have applied for a remortage with my bank, but there are still entries on my Experian credit file. Some of those entries will be on there until March, May and August of this year. I'm at a loss as to why they are still there. As advised by my IVA practioner I defaulted on payments from December 2001 and as stated started the IVA in February 2002. Why should I be penalised for another 6 months? I have a now unblemished history and not missed any payments on anything. I have written to Experian to see if these can be removed and await a reply. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks

Well those entried would only be due to be removed on 25 February 2008 so it is still early days, and sometimes this can take a little while. No harm in you contacting the credit referencing companies directly to ask when they will be removed.

Hi
Some creditors register default notices after the IVA is agreed and there is really nothing that you can do about this other than to wait until they drop of your credit file six years from when they were first registered

Hi
there are several stories on the site describing how some creditors still pursue "debtors" for payments even after the IVA has started.

I have a couple of clients who went bankrupt in december and they have just received a county court summons for a prvious debt - even the OR has not contacted the ceditors yet!.

You can check your own Experian credit report so you have the full picture and can see how many 1's and 0's you have on the file.
