I wrote to all my creditors 2 months ago asking for a break until June due to health reasons. In that letter I told them that I had cut the cards up and wouldn't be using and that I would pay them each 10% of the minimum payment. Letters and phone calls started pointed out I had met my minimum payment and not to use my cards. They obviously don't read the letters - "I have cut my cards up" or left hand right hand scenario. If I do end up speaking to them I tell them - no I can't pay you anymore, you can't have a bigger pro rata payment than the others, I am not using my card, I am consulting debt management companies. That has now change slightly to - I am considering an IVA. Only had letters so far that say - if you don't pay the arrears we may have to take action. So the summary of that is - this is the 3rd month I will be making a token payment - I am speaking to Tina (Melanie's company)again on Monday and will then sort out whether to pay this month or use it for my contingency fund.

I was bothered about the calls at first but now I am being quite firm but polite while I get things sorted.

hi - we did not pay our creditors for 5 months while waiting for our iva to be approved and no bailiffs came to our door so i really dont think you need to worry!

our iva took longer because the amount of creditors we have and we also had awkward creditors! so i would imagine for most of you yours wont take any where near as long!

most of these letters are scare tactics!
