I've completed my IVA successfully, it's been removed from my credit file, I have no defaults, but am struggling to get a mortgage. Can you recommend any lenders or point me in the direction of who can help?
It's a joint application.

Hi --- we have a couple of mortgage experts on the forum: Ryan from Zebra Finance and Shaun from Select Partnership. I know that Ryan has helped quite a few posters in the past. If you do a member search you will get contact details from their profiles.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

It's so upsetting to learn that lenders like Halifax won't touch you if you've 'ever' been in an iva.

6 years 3 months after entering into my agreement, nomdefaultsmon my history, no late payments at all, very little outstanding debts (£400) and still, I am unable to find a decent mortgage.

I truly feel like I've wasted my time for the past 6 years, it's so cruel and upsetting.

You haven't wasted your time - you are now debt free and able to start again. There is a mortgage out there - you need to approach the whole of the market brokers that have experience and knowledge of where to go to such as Ryan

@luluj - may I ask what percentage deposit and interest rate you got your mortgage at?

I have alerted Ryan and asked him to post on the forum. His details are still under the members list A-Z and will re-appear on the experts list once he next posts.

Hi Steve.sjw

Im in a similar position (although I havent applied yet!!) I believe that many of the mortgages obtained for ex IVA have been done via the Halifax...but sadly they have very recently changed their lending criteria to ask the dreaded 'have you ever been in an IVA' question

Ive been told its still possible with a 20% deposit though, so I guess it depends on that, along with all the other usual factors.

I have also read a couple of success stories from people who have gone direct to the Nationwide recently with much smaller deposits....Im going to give them a try when Ive found a house :o)
When you reach the end of your rope..tie a knot in it and hang on!

IVA Completed

Mine is not through the Halifax and not sure where you have that information from - Ryan has access to a vast amount of products and everyones circumstances are very very different - speak to one of the experts and let them direct you to the most appropriate lender.
