studying to qualify as a licensed conveyancer

Hi

I am studying to qualify as a licensed conveyancer and each year have to register membership with the governing body. On the form it asks me to disclose if i have been made bankrupt, or entered into an IVA. I know I have to be honest, but I wanted to know if my IVA could prevent me from qualifying? There is no information about this on the Council of Licensed Conveyancers website, and I don't want to be exposed by enquiring direct!

I do not think so, but check with your professional body to be sure. Can you do this on an anonymous basis?

You will need to check this with the governing body to ensure that this won't affect your ability to work as a conveyancer.

I think the reason why they ask is that you might be in control of client's monies in the job of conveyancing.

Generally this is a concern for supervisory bodies such as the Law Society and accountancy bodies.
