That story reminds me of something that happened where I work. Someone who works for the same police force that I do was found hanged in the conservatory at home (I didn't know him). Also found there was a barbeque upon which were charred remains of letters, one of which was from the Co-op bank. It doesn't take a genius to work out what happened there.

I presume he thought that any insurances he was due would sort the family out. I have no doubt that would have preferred to struggle with the debt and still have him there with them.

I have never ever thought of suicide, even at my lowest ebb, but I can see why people would.

I echo MTL's sentiments - if you are looking in on here, please post so we can help or phone someone. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Excellent post MTL - as some of you know, a relative of mine hung himself very recently. The feelings of anger, grief, bewilderment, loss etc felt by those left behind is indescribable. Believe me when I say nothing is worth commiting suicide for.

If anyone does feel so low, please cry out for help, please. xx

I agree, an Excellent Post.

Nothing is worth losing your life over. I too lost my brother-in Law, He Commited Suicide over Debts, Gassed himself in his Car in a layby on a quiet Road. He was only 38 years old, Married with 3 Kids. No-one realised just how Depressed he was at the time, Sadly he didn't ask for any help.

I too would urge anyone out there feeling low, Don't bottle it up. We are here to help as much as we can.

xx

I too agree, I have had extreme periods of being very low and have contemplated and tried suicide. Fortunately I sought some professional help via counselling, I advise anyone who is very depressed or low to seek professional help whether its help from this forum, debt advice or medical advice. The hardest part of this is admitting there is a need to get help, once this is achieved you will feel like you are in more control. I can relate this to when we talked about our debts and decided to get help, the first phone call was the most daunting but hey from then on it was alot easier.

my hubby contemplated taking his own life at the height of his despair.. he then realised I would be left with nothing except this mound of debt.. as insurance wouldn't cover suicide!!

Anyone who is in this place, please seek help, your life is worth so much more than that.. whats struggling in an IVA or being made bankrupt.. nothing compared to this life you have been given, its so precious!!
Ang.. 13 payments in.. WOW, thats over 20% paid!! http://angela18.blogs.iva.co.uk/ well here we go

if you wish for a rainbow... then you have to put up with the rain xx

My cousin hung himself May 2007 and he was still very young. No-one knew why until after his death.. he was in debt! My family are still trying to come to terms with all this over a year on and I will never ever understand why my best friend decided to take his own life. When this happened my parents said that they hoped that I wouldn't go through something like this and that I would talk to them if I had any problems and I did... it did take me a year to tell them, just after the anniversary of Stu's death but I did it.

I am angry at him for doing this and our family have been left with the guilt that he couldn't talk to us. No matter how low you get there is always somewhere there you can talk to.
Life is far too stressful!!

My brother took his own life. He had a mountain of debt. He left behind 2 boys. It taught me a valueable lesson in facing up to my debts.

Life is far more precious than any money worries.
