Well..did my first proper shop the weekend. Budget was £100, spent £76 in Morrisons getting pretty much everything off the list and a bit more when I saw stuff on offer...then pottered about to home bargains and tesco where i knew there were better offers on the stuff i didnt get from Morrisons. Very impressed with myself...getting good at this saving lark :-)

Well done Vimto! Have to say I'm around 10 months in and I still overspend each week. This morning for example, everything was going well until I hit the strawberries, and they are not cheap x

Yes I still get seduced by offers and have to really weigh them up, just got some strawberries from the farm shop, they were only £1.10, I never buy them from the supermarket, they do them 'on offer' (I use that term loosely) at 2 for £3 but I still think that's a rip off

I only ever buy strawberries in the summer and we tend to go the the PYO farms as they are so much tastier and I can eat some on the way round!!!

Asda have been doing whole pineapples for £1 recently and they are lovely and sweet.

I agree Jan, the ones in the supermarket never taste nice (probaly because they're not english ones)

Just got 2 large pineapples from the grocers for £1 last week and 3 mangoes for £1, much cheaper than the supermarkets

We don't have a local greengrocer or a farm shop that doesn't involve a car journey so we don't tend to bother.

Not had a mango for ages!!!

Strawbs at this time of year are simply "carriers" for sugar and cream -- which suits me :-)

Just plain strawberries for me - I've never put sugar on them. Used to have cream but not any more.

I cut them in quarters, sugar them and leave them to steep for a few hours, which creates a syrup -- then add cream and devour !!!
