This is another worry of mine that has helped us in our decision to go bankrupt instead of the IVA route, my daughter is going to Uni in September, I had to fill in an income form so she can apply for a grant. Now the form only asks for our income, they do not want details of all our expenditure and they obviously do not know about the planned bankruptcy. If they go off our earnings (which are above average, but our huge debts far exceeded them!) I worry that they will not give her a grant and so we will have to support her thru Uni, can I put this down on my bankruptcy petition and what chance is there of it being allowed!!! Thats if we can afford to!!!!

Hi Jane

Yes, you should allow for parental support on the application form, and this is generally allowable within reason. As you know university grant assistance is entirely based upon income rather than disposable income.
