I don't think I ever expected to maintain my lifestyle within an IVA, I knew things had to change as I was living the lifestyle of when my hubby was earning 30K ten years ago, when in fact he was struggling to earn 20K, I wouldn't be in this position if I had have been frugal in the beginning but I still went abroad, still had facials and my nails done and continued to buy clothes. Now I have none of those but piece of mind that all is paid for and at the end of the month if I buy a home face pack and my daughter and I have a girly evening I'm happy without forking out £70 @ time like I used to, all to be pampered. Do I miss it? Yes I do...but I know I can't afford it and my lifestyle now is a big learning curve in money management.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Welch9, to be blunt I really don't think that an IVA is the right way forward for you with the attitude that you have. The idea of an IVA is to repay as much as you can to your creditors, which you don't seem willing to do.
No one can expect to carry on living the same lifestyle whilst in an IVA as they did before, and to fail to declare additional income is asking for trouble - as well as risking the IVA failing, how are you ever going to learn about budgeting if nothing changes?
If your I & E is correct you will be able to live comfortably whilst in an IVA.
I have no undeclared income either and I do agree with Skippy. We all know that we can't enjoy the same lifestyle that we had before and that things like birthdays and Christmas must be frugal.
An IVA is not an easy way to get rid of debt. It is a last chance for some of us, and by having to budget then you learn the value of money and we will make sure it doesn't happen again.

Some people do want to still live the high life whilst in an IVA, and that's just not possible.

This forum has no place for people who want to try and be clever and avoid paying their debts by failing to disclose income. It is a complete nonsense to suggest that 40% of people in working IVAs are acting dishonestly - and the comment has no substance.
I would like to know where you get your information from.

Maybe some people are Welch9, but they aren't learning a lesson and are setting themselves up for their IVA to fail, and if they end up going BR the OR will take a very dim view.
Anyone considering an IVA must realise that for it to work they must be honest with their IP, and this forum will never condone lying to your IP.
I would still like to know where the figures come from though.
