Why do you have to tell them. I have not sorted my finances out yet (am still thinking "I can manage"!!!) but I have only mentioned to a couple of close friends and my sister what my situation is as I know they are supportive. My parents are dead unfortunately but I would never dream of telling my husbands parents - they are the most judgemental people I have ever met and have never helped us out in any way even when we got married. My parents would have given me their last 10 pounds and I am always helping my children which is why probably why we have no money.

Hiya
we have to as he is our landlord plus rob wants to so they understand why we say we can't afford this and that and why we are working so hard just to make ends meet.
Its me thats worrying that it will affect our relationship but as usual I am probably worrying about nothing. My father is also deceased but I wish he were here as he would have been supportive and understanding.

I remember having to tell my parents mum fine she is the laid back one. Dad a different case worked hard all his life never had credit always saved for what he wanted, but wanted to be open with them. told the wifes family but not the full story easier that way.I found it was the best thing i did if i need to get thinks off my chest i can now.And because of my job if anything happens there is no more shocks to deal with.

wish i could give some advice on where you stand. i am lucky really as long as you are seen to be doing something positive, but it has stayed a private matter in work.and if i am honest this site has been a massive help in better understand the whole iva.
