what can you do if you checked your terms of employment after you started the iva and it says that br and arrangments are not allowed and would result in gross misconduct and instant dismisal plead ignorant[?]

Keep very quiet about it and hope that no one notices. Although with BR your tax code changes I think and that would be noticed by employers.
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.

It depends upon the terms of the contract. If the contract specifies that if you enter such arrangements that you have a duty to inform your employer, then you would be in breach of contract if you failed to disclose your financial circumstances. If there is no provision, then it might be better to sit tight - or have a confidential chat with your HR representative who would be able to advise you.

Hi

Ive been asked a few times, as a nurse if I have any adverse credit, Bankruptcy or insolvency. In fact when I applied to Bupa they credit checked me. So I dont think it just applies to financial services any more.

Unfortunately, it just depends on the employer....Some do checks, some don't. It's already been said to keep quiet but you run the risk of being found out and it looking worse for you for not being honest. Check through your employment contract though or you could phone contact the HR dept anonomously and ask outright if it would affect employment.
Good luck
It's nice to be back......

Because during the year that you are made bankrupt, HMRC are unable to split the tax years. So they treat tax on income until the end of that tax year as a claim in the insolvency, and you therefore get paid gross - but have to hand over the equivalent of your tax and national insurance to the Official Receiver for the benefit of your creditors.

Thankyou MELANIE, We are back at the hospital on Friday with my daughter again . Filled up the car for the journey £65.00 ,but Morrisons petrol prices have been dropped 5p per litre in Lincolnshire ! I have rang Bankruptcy helpline for some more advice about our situation. To be honest we are already starting to feel some relief in knowing we are doing the right thing. I hope you dont mind but a friend of mine is in debt trouble and i referred him to you and your office for some advice . Hope that was ok .

Posts like these remind me just how serious entering an IVA is.There are potentially so many repercussions and areas not considered. The most important repercussion for me is that with determination and hard work i will be debt free in 5 years time.My soul business will be making sure my payments are made and i continue to make positive adjustments to my life style. I'm lucky that i am studying for the next 4 years, so that will be my main focus.I keep my business to myself as i will not allow anything or anyone to put my IVA at risk.

We have tried to make our iva work ,but my daughter is due to have major surgery. She is disabled. I agree ivas should not be entered into lightly, but when u have lots of things go wrong, no support or understanding from your ip , and the situation with my daughter. It all gets too much , we dont want our iva to fail. We have had a long think about things and at the moment our daughter is top concern and not our debts. Bankruptcy is something that we didnt want to do 8 mths ago but now with the added stress we cant maintain our ivas.So we have made a decision based on our situation, and to tell the truth we feel much better already .

Rachellxx39, I hope your daughter's surgery goes well. You have made your decision based on what's best for you AND your family, sometimes it's not the way we would have it if we had a choice. Give yourself a big pat on the back for having the courage to take this step and I hope your br goes well. I know what a relief it is once you come to terms with br, even though it is hard to accept. xx
It's nice to be back......
