It's a bit bitty to get the full saving but if you buy the paper and the stuff required in Tesco then it's a saving nonetheless. x

Thank you David and J - I am sure we will enjoy ourselves!

I am leaving the laptop at home but I will probably suffer from withdrawal symptoms!

I hope you are both well.

You behave yourself with the computer! We want you back fit and well, and in the meantime, J is doing a sterling job![:)]

Hello all,

Just found this thread.

I have had much discussion with Tesco's over their store returns policy but here it goes, unofficial & official

Official: Under a month old return to store with or without receipt and they should replace it. (They can tell if it is one of theirs)

Over a month and you are to phone the number on the reciept for advice. (They try and get you to send it for repair or if you are lucky give you a code to give to the store, again reciept needed)

Under the Sales of Goods act, Tesco's are responsible for failure of a product for up to 6 years if it is a manufacturing fault. (example if the screen goes suddenly blank in year 4 then it is the seller who is responsible for replacement). Good letter on the BBC One Show website from Dom Littlewood.

If within 12 months they should still exchange the TV without receipt or proof of purchase especially if it is a product only they sell. If it is a big brand product they will tell you contact the manufacturer, this is not the case. They (Tesco's) have to replace your product.

As a service engineer for a number of large domestic product manufacturers, Currys, Comet, Tesco, Asda, Littlewoods always tried to shift the blame onto the manufacturer and unfortunately as these retailers buy products for peanuts the manufacturer will usually pick up the repair/exchange, though one manufacturer was slowly changing their procedures.

Anyway hope this helps a little,
Martyn
