I remember reading a post on here a few weeks ago (at least I think it was, I seem to be losing track of time these days!) to do with budgeting and shopping.

Whoever it was had said that they went onto the Asda website and did an online shop just to get the prices. They did their list so they know how much the bill was going to come to.

Asda don't deliver to me, but I registered my moms address and armed with my list went through and did my shop. It was great! I knew exactly what my bill was going to come to before I left home. I also stuck to what was on my list as well and managed to come in under budget for this week.

So, to whoever it was - a big thank you! I shall be doing this every week.

That is a good idea, and i may use it too.
I shop at tesco, and what i have been doing for a few months (even pre-IVA), is to use my calculator on my mobile, and I go round the shop adding every item I use. i then know how much it is going to be at the end, and don't usually go over my budget.
I must admit though i don;t like going round adding it up - so this method of using a list may be better.

You do feel a little silly(well I do)walking round adding things up,but then you see people whipping their credit cards out at the till and know that your way is better!!!

you know what Plasticdaft, you are so right!
I use my mobile so people probably think I am just texting round the shop!
It is an effective way of keeping within budget though.

Our calculator is a 99p one but its bright green!!! We also use our 11 year old who is a wizz at arithmatic and normally adds things up in his head before we can hit the buttons on the calculator!!! Smart arse(must take after me hahaha)

Yep we live with a smart arse too - he's nine and the 32 year old (his dad) isn't far behind him [:D]

I'm going to do the whole shop online bit - Great idea!!

My husband is going to be trained to do this over the next week! Talk about women impulse buying - he just takes the biscuit (or should I say several packets!)

I havent been shopping for months as cant manage the shopping trolley once theres more than a few bits in it.
Hubby and daughter go. He shops better than me!!
He gets good food and lots of fruit and goodies, although this week he seemed to forget we had cats. Still, cant complain its the first time hes forgotten anything.

To him i say.........keep up the good work while i stay home [:D]
