I do like to give mine an airing and as I don't wear skimpy tops or swimming cossies, I'm a bit limited as to where I can have one.

Same here - hardly anyone has seen the one on my hip!

I've been doing some research and I'm now thinking of a row of paw prints.

Too many decisions!

Does sound good Skippy. One day I'll be posting about mine, I doubt one letter (small) would cost a lot, not that I know the price of tattoos x

Prices vary from place to place, and I would say don't just go for the cheapest. I went on recommendation for both of mine.

Funnily enough, having my nose pierced doesn't appeal to me at all. Stepdaughter had hers done and it got infected.

I really thought my tattoo was going to hurt but I never felt a thing. I was actually fascinated watching them do it.

I had my belly button pierced once and loved it, even though I couldn't show it off I enjoyed it, fell out one day at work and never did put it back. Kind of regret that now x

It does vary what you have and where you go. I chose a very reputable one close to where I live. It cost me £50 and that was in 2002.

Having my nose pierced has never appealed to me either to be honest.

I think I paid about £65 for my stars on my back 3 years ago but the one on my hip has more detail and was quite a bit cheaper.

It's not cheap though is it? I like a coloured one myself. Considering how long ago I had it done, the colours are still quite fresh.

I'm going to have to start saving - I really want one done now!

A bit late on in this post lol but well done Skippy!!!

From what people have told me a tattoo on the wrist would hurt alot.

I have 2 tattoos on the underside of my left arm so not able to wear short sleeve shirts at work.

I did the very, very dumb thing of having my Wife's name inked on me, well you all know how that marriage went lol. So had a random tribal pattern over the top as could not afford the £400 for the laser removal. It killed to have it covered up and beld badly [:(]

Thanks Luke.

I've heard the same about a wrist tattoo, and I did want one on my foot until I looked into it more!

I have to say that I wouldn't have a name done for exactly that reason - knowing my luck Dave would clear off and I'd have to find someone with the same name!

I would never have a name tattoed. I like my cartoon characters and will probably have another one of those done when I can manage to pay for it.

Congratulations Skippy!

Well my wife and I both had our first tattoos last year at 40! My wife had her first on her foot after being told by my brother who practically has a full sleeve of tattoos that it would hurt like hell. Well according to form it didn't hurt at all. She later had that one extended and then had a scroll design on her wrist and that apparently, in her words 'banged'. She also more recently had some stars on her other foot. I've had my wife, son and daughters names on my upper right arm as an amnigram (it reads the same upside down) very, very clever. (wish we could post pictures sometimes)

I went to a friend who used to work as a forklift driver at the place I work. His artwork he used to show us was outstanding and was obviously a wasted talent. At that time, 10 years ago, he'd spent over £8,000 in tattoos. He left our place to become a tattooist and 10 years on has now opened his own studio. I'd like some tribal work around my existing tattoo and I've been bought some vouchers to go and have it done. He's on holiday in America at the minute but as soon as he comes back I'm going to go and let him draw me something up. I trust him 100% I always said when he left that if I ever had one done I'd let him do it and looked through 1000's of designs and never really liked any design 100% so I went to see him, told him what I wanted and he drew me up a few ideas, when I saw the amnigram I was instantly 100% certain that was what I wanted.

When he worked at our place I asked him to describe the pain and he said it's like having a carpet burn and someone constantly rubbing it. My brother said 'prepare yourself for the worst pain ever and you'll be pleasantly surprised' Well I can honestly say they were both so wrong, It doesn't really hurt at all in fact my mate had the design outline printed on my arm and said 'we'll just try a line and see what you think zzzzzz I looked at him and said Is that it? Get on with it then, nearly 2 hours later job done. I went back a few weeks later for some white bits in the design to be filled in and can confirm it DOES hurt more when they go over an existing tattoo because they are in effect tattooing scar tissue but it's still more than bearable. My advice if you've got the design sorted and your 100% happy with it go and have it done.

I only want one letter on my wrist a fancy 'B' it means something to me and one day I think I'll get it, after all I've had 4 children and two of them were over 10lb in weight so surely I can stand the letter B being tattooed on my wrist? x
