My creditors meeting is on the 9th August 2007 at 11am and I'm worried sick about the next few days.
I have had very few phone calls and letters to be honest, maybe because I haven't actually missed a payment till a few weeks ago but I am now getting very very worried about why it is so quiet.
All of my creditors have been informed by myself via letter of the creditors meeting ( I take it that payplan will have been in touch also) and they have also received two token payments (which they have cashed) and I have spoke to the companies who have actually phoned me.I have sent numerous letters to each creditor along the way, I reckon that each creditor have been sent a minimum of 3 letters each.
On reading around the forums, it seems that some companies don't wait until the IVA creditors meeting and sell the debt on asap.
What my main worry is that how likely am I to get a door step collector knocking on my parents house before next thurs?
What are the actual procedures that my creditors have to do before this happens, will they or do they have to inform me that I am the expect a visit or can someone just turn up?
E.G Will it be a default letter first or phone call?
What with the postal strike that is ongoing at the mo, I'm worried that there may be a letter somewhere in a post office saying that I'm going to get a visit soon.
I haven't told my parents about my situation as they are very old and any sort of situation would....I do not want to think about it.
My creditors are:

Egg
Lloyds TSB
Goldfish
Mint
Lombard Direct
Capital One
Cahoot
I'm offering them 54p in the £

Nearly all of them have been in touch saying that they are either freezing my account until they receive the proposals or are giving me 28 days, this was about 14 days ago so they should be ok but Lombard direct said that they would only give me 14 days then I would be in default, Payplan said that would probably issue me with a default letter first but they will have received the proposals by now.
Also, as a posting pointed out, if one of the creditors sells the debt on before the IVA is agreed, am I still legally obliged to pay them the full amount owing instead of the creditor who sold the debt or are the debt collecting agency bound by the laws of the IVA?
Sorry to go on like this but I am really getting worried again now by the quietness of it all and if there will be any surprises around the corner.

whoahh slow down, your meeting is days away, it is normal that it all goes quiet stop worrying worry when it is all over, even if someone turns up at your door tell them you are not prepared to discuss anything go away and correspond by letter, don't give anyone anything, you are in the late stages of your iva meeting lets see what happens stop worrying its down to the ip now, lets get a result and then go from there, good luck

I know that you are right, its just the someone knocking at my door is the worry.
What if I'm not in and they speak to my parents?
I can deal with them but my parents wont be expecting it so may be taken in by them.
Still awake now worrying about it and I've got a shift to go to at 6

Hi there

Kerri is absolutely correct - you have to stop worrying about what might happen over the next week. It is very unlikely that you will see a doorstep collector - these are very rare these days, and at the end of the day your creditors now have copies of your proposals so it is unlikely that they will want to be running to the additional expense of paying someone to visit your home, when they know you are insolvent.

Good luck for next week, and all of the creditors on your list tend to be supportive of IVA proposals.

Hi Endesmeet,

You dont have any difficult creditors so theres no reason to worry so much. I dont think you'll have door step collector at this stage. Your creditors meeting is days away, try to remain calm and be positive.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Regards,
Michelle P.

Thanks to everyone for your help and encouragement.
I am a natural worrier at heart ( if it is natural )and I am absolutely panicking about the next few days, what if....what if......etc
I'm making silly, silly mistakes in work, forgetting everything at home and it just feels like all that is on my mind is this IVA meeting.
I find myself watching telly but not watching it, just thinking about what can happen if.....this,that or other

A batch of post arrived this morning, 1st pile for a few days and there wasn't one creditor letter in it so thats good news ....I think

I will post back on Thurs once I get my result....
Thanks again

Hi endsmeet
I just wanted to say that I found things went quiet form whent the received the proposals. When they phoned originally a lot asked when they would receive the paperwork I think once they have it they tend to stop. Try to stop worrying you have done your best and not long to go now.
I wish you all the evry best for your meeting.

Ang

I missed payments for 3 months (took 21weeks to sort out IVA), had lots of calls and letters, only one company threatened debt collectors (Barclaycard/Mercers), but it was just a threat. I had capital one, goldfish and egg as creditors also. I had default notices issued after 2 missed payments giving 28days or 14 days notice, so with only a few days until your meeting you probably won't get much more than a default notice if that.
Good luck with your credtitors meeting.

I actually had a couple of hrs tonight were I actually forgot about my problems, I really felt ok and then suddenly something sparked me off and everything kicked in again.
I know that there is nothing much else I can do, I have spent the last 2 wks replying to all my letters explaining that my meeting has been set etc etc and all my creditors have accepted the token payments.
Its good to hear everybody's wishes and it really does help knowing that other people who have been in the same situ are rooting for me, its really nice to know that I am not alone in this and fingers crossed, I can come out of the other side of Thursday with a smile on my face and that there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to everyone here for all your support and advice, I can't say this enough
