Strewth !, wouldn't want too many more like that.
Sunday-Mrs T's birthday(fire brigade on standby to
extinguish candles[:D])
Monday-new exhaust.
Wednesday-MOT plus 2 new new tyres and associated odds and sddos.
That took care of our squirreled away 'buffer'.
Still, on the positive side, it was 'real' money we were spending
not the make believe plastic kind.

You have a good attitude. We needed to replace part of the exhaust pipe on our trusty old Punto this week. That was paid out of our modest contingency. As with you, it's liberating to pay in cash, not with invisible money!

Thanks sensible,(or can i call you captain?).
Although it hurts at the time, it is good to know
that we are not getting deeper into trouble, and, there
is a light at the end of the tunnel.(allbeit a very long tunnel and a flippin dim light at the moment)

Must be one of those weeks our telly went boom and the washing machine is leaking only a bit thank god, but will probably flood when I'm not looking, but as you say nice to be able to do it yourself not go and get more credit. The contingency will build again [:)]

I got home from holiday today to find a letter from Clarke Wilmott dated 11th July telling me that they haven't received my first IPA payment and if I didn't make the payment within 7 days of the date of the letter they would contact my employer and the OR! When I checked my bank account the money was payed out on 2nd July, so I have no idea where it is!

from talk-talk, we have recently gone back to BT,
now talk-talk want a £70 cancelation fee for being
with them for less than 12 months, yet our first bill
from them was dated may 2006.
oooooh i feel a row coming on.

Go for it! I've heard quite a few bad things about Talk Talk, although I haven't done to badly - I went with them 3 years ago on a one year free deal and they still haven't charged me! All I get charged for is the calls - as soon as they start charging I'm off!

i have to say, to be frank, they have been less than
impressive.
signed up to the calls and internet package, it then took them nearly 6 months to tell me i couldnt receive
their internet.
anyway, lets hope the week improves from here on in.

Sounds similar to other stories I have heard. I know BT get slated, but I used to work for cable and I know how bad they are as well. Good luck with getting it sorted out.

bear in mind the contnetion ratio, ie lots of people are using the same servers and lines to connect which means a drop in speed.
