Well done abbiesmum......it takes a bit of getting used to not having credit cards and loans to fall back on but you will find it easier as the months go by and the satisfaction you will get knowing that your only spending within your means is priceless.

Just remember that in 5 years or so you will be debt free.......i have always looked at my IVA payments as similar to that of my friends who buy cars etc on 5 year loans.....just I havn't got the new car lol.
I came into this world with nothing and still have most of it left!

I had a simple spread sheet that listed the monthly payments with a running total of “paid to date” and “left to pay”. Little milestones like half-way point and IVA yearly anniversary were highlighted as well. Once you get through the learning curve of the first year, it’s surprising (and scary!) how fast the months click by! [:)]

thanks everyone. We are so determined to sort this out and be debt free. we are watching every penny but its also lovely to be able to buy the girls a new summer dress without panicking about card being declined. We accept we dont have CC to fall back on but to be honest they were maxed out so no space for spending/emergencys anyway! I like the idea of a spreadsheet to watch payments add up and debt reduce! Thanks for all your support and kibd words. Will be lovely to meet some of you in July at the FF summer get together!

Well done abbiesmum, I've just paid my second payment too :)
I like the spreadsheet idea! Especially as we pay extra payments into our IVA quarterly which are varying amounts, that way I could easily keep track of how much we've paid in so far. I'm on it :)
6 year IVA accepted 7th March 2013... the start of a new journey!
