Hi Pete, which account did you apply for with the Co-op? I know they do a current account and the Cashminder account which is what I've got. You can only apply for the Cashminder on the phone or in a branch.

we've just opened a SMILE account (co-op) which is great you get a debit card and cheque book. You also get £500 overdraft which I have cancelled. no problem opening it.
Ang.. 13 payments in.. WOW, thats over 20% paid!! http://angela18.blogs.iva.co.uk/ well here we go

Hi Petes39
sorry for the delay, when I applied over the phone it was declined they told me to call them back after 48 hours as they would review my application, I was honest & explained that I was going into an iva so they knew beforehand that my credit rating wouldnt have been that good anyway. It took about 3 weeks to get a review on the banks decision though but finally was approved
(I applied for the cashminder account which is absolutely fine)
Ive had no problems using the visa electron card anywhere
(I was always used to Gold and platinum debit cards pre Iva!!) so a bit of a come down at first but now I dont care as I am just relieved that I got things sorted out!

Hi
I think a lot of these premium accounts are not really worth the extra money.Add up what you pay each month and what you actually use and I think your better off with the plain old FREE basic account.
