Oh Julie, how awful for you!

I can sympathise with anyone who has a phobia about them. I don't like them but I will go and have whatever treatment done.

My daughter was the best though when she was younger. She had to have four baby teeth removed as the adult teeth were starting to grow through underneath. The first time she went and had two out and she was fine - she didn't know what was coming. The second time (her father took her - I was at work!) she started screaming as soon as she was in the chair! The dentist tried to inject her gum and she pushed his arm away which caused him to inject himself in the thumb! In the end, hubby and the dental nurse had to hold her down whilst he removed the teeth!

She does go back though for her checkups!

[:0]..Crikey guys, you've all had some right nasty and painful experiences..Me thinks after reading all this, maybe I'll have a few vodkas tomorrow before I go for dutch courage in case anything needs doing, at least I won't feel any pain then, hopefully[;)]..then again, maybe not a good idea as I've had a nasty stomach bug for the last two days.Just hope I'm ok tomorrow as don't want to cancel it as I just want to get it over with!!..I don't know if they're having lots of people cancelling at the moment as I had a call this afternoon from the receptionist to remind me that I had the appointment, which is unusual for them to do this....Oh well, will let you all know what happens tomorrow, hopefully won't need anything doing[:)]..xx

Hi All,
My dad was a dentist so there was no avoiding check up's etc!!! [:)]
The OH and I were at a Tesco Extra store months ago and I took out their dental insurance - it's really good, £9.95 per month but I can claim back all my dental costs (except the hygenist). I've even managed to claim for the OH's work on my policy.
It's been a god send as before I went off on sick leave my gold vrown snapped off while eating toast for breakfast.
Be brave and may everyone have fabulous teeth!![:)]

Once every 12 months does me, especially if I don't have to have anything done, and I don't have any trouble inbetween visits!

I wish my dentist did 12 monthly check ups. They still insist on 6 monthly ones and they are NHS. Last month I had 2 fillings and came out with a cut lip from where she was leaning so far into my mouth she nearly fell in. LOL!

Ours is NHS as well, although he is semi retired. I dread the day he finishes for good as we'll have to try and find another one!

He's got one atribute all dentists should have, especially when deaing with kids - he's stone deaf and so can't hear them screaming, or you mumbling when he hurts you![:D]
