Hi this morning in the mail i received a letter from the IVA Council ?!! The letter as my ref / court / iva company name - all as the title heading. In fact through the envelope you could the headings in the letter window. The goes on to say i may have been mis sold my IVA and for me to contact them to discuss my options. It also states its not a fee based company. Is this correct ? Do i dismiss this letter, is it more junk mail or do i need to be concerned by this letter? I'm only 1 year into my IVA just coming up to my 1st review with ( Clearstart).
I dont like the idea of other companies holding my information, apart from my IVA company. Who is the IVA council exactly ?
Thanks for any help.

Hi Sue and welcome. I would just bin this as thse people just trawl throught the Insolvency website and just send out these letters to everyone. Only you can say if you have been truly mis-sold your IVA but if you happy with just continue with your payments

They are vultures

Let the OFT know about the letter you have received, also put some pressure on the Information Commissioner to protect your personal data - http://www.ico.gov.uk

And sign up to this petition - http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/InsolvReg/
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation.

Best advice is to NOT stop paying your IVA and if you have any concerns whatsoever speak to your insolvency practitioner.

Hi
Alan is right
These companies are being investigated by the OFT as the advise that they give is very poor, one sided and frankly dangerous.
Stick with your IVA and if you do have any concerns then your first port of call is your IP.
For info the IVAC would put you in touch with their connected company,UK Bankruptcy who would charge you at least £1000 plus costs to go down the bankruptcy road.
