Hi, Im in need of a little advice, My IVA was accepted in Aug 05, written into my iva was my car (which is on HP with Honda) as this is paid for by a car allowance from my employer, without a vehicle I would not be able to do my job.

I was on your forum a while ago asking about car finance etc, of which I was advised to attempt to gain finance or look to a relative to obtain the finance for me. I attempted to gain refinance from Honda think because i had not defaulted on payments I may stand a chance, anyhow they didn't accept, so my partner has agreed to finance the vahicle for me with me making the payments directly to him. I have since writtent to my IVA for acceptance of this mentod of which I am awaiting a response.

My concern is that when I appled for Honda finance it showed up that I did not own the car ! I was shocked, and presumed it had something to do with my IVA, anyhow I didn't do anything about it, however I am now looking at selling my current vehicle and went on Auto Trader to look at my vehicles history and was amazed to see that it had 2 previous owners which is incorrect as I am the second owner, it also stated that the last ownership change in Aug 05 the month my IVA was put forward, I am now extremely concerned as to who owns my vehicle as I actually have the log book ?

I expresssed my concern at the beginning of my IVA that my Car Allowance should not be taken into account as this is an alternative to a company vehicle, but it looks like it obviously has, do you have any advice at all with regards the ownership of my vehicle. Thanking you in anticipation.

I can assure you that nothing in the IVA would disrupt or change the proper recording of the ownership of the vehicle,

I'm not sure I have the vehicle experience to add much more than that other then to say that the log book is not definitive eveidence of ownership

If the car was pre-registered then you will have the additional keeper. (normally showing as a company - upto 6 months)

If the vehicle was on Hire Purchase it would not be included in the IVA ??

Catullus is correct in that the V5 confirms the registered keeper not legal ownership.

The data used by sites including autotrader and consumer hpi relates to changes to the V5 holder not actual ownership.

If you are concerned about the current registered keeper details contact the DVLA.

It might be worth confirming the date of your current V5 - was it issued in Aug 05 ???
