I have today received my Certificate of Completion and i cannot tell you how good it feels to eventually have this monkey off my back.

It has been a long road but it has taught me many lessons and i am a better person for having walked this path.

After my last payment i was told it would be 6 to 8 weeks before i received the certificate but it has taken just over 1 week so i am incredibly impressed.

For all of you reading this who are already in or about to start IVA's, don't give up hope, it takes a long time to get sorted but it can be sorted and you can change things around and come the end of it you will be wiser because of it.

hi virtual-unknown

first of all well done , its a great feeling isnt it

secondly , which IVA co are you with, as a one week wait is truly magnificent, when some forum members have waited over a year, or at least 6 months !!
Last payment made April 2012
Certificate received 1st Nov 2012

It is an amazing feeling, I have a massive smile on my face and am not ashamed to admitt i even shed a few tears of delight, i at last have my life back!

I <s>am</s> was with freemanjones, and although i've had a few complaints with them over the years, in general they have been very good, especially now it seems.

We're with Freeman Jones too, but as I've said on another thread we are now in our 5th month of waiting.

I'm very sorry to hear that, i'm not sure why ther should be such big differences.

To be honest I have had very little to do with them throughout the 5 years, sometimes ther hasn't been any contact for over 8 months but I have made sure every payment was on time and in full and when requested sent all of the paperwork they needed.

That is great news.

Donegalabu, welcome and good luck.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Really well done, I see from the insolvency official statistics that 1 in every 3 IVAs fail. So well done to all who last the course.

Cheers guys, it really is a massive releif to have it finally over with but now is when the real hard work starts getting myself back on track and making sure i dont end up in the same position again.

Throughout my whole IVA I have always told myself that when it is finished I will have a big night out to celebrate, but now I am there, I would rather save that money and use it for my future rather than dwelling on the past.

Donegalabu, it is a scary time but trust me, it does get better.
Listen to you IPA, make all your payments on time and it will go like clockwork and in no time, you'll be in this position as well, good luck!

Do go for the night out - you have definately earned it, and I doubt very much whether you will ever fall into unmanageable debt again.
