Hey you,

Sorry to hear you're so stressed, but speaking as someone who, at 11am today, became debt free, it IS worth it. Granted, my IVA has been finished early, but that's a total of two of those creditor meetings....it IS a hard road but as long as it's the right one for you, you'll get down it OK. Debt is lonely, you're right....today, for example, barring all the fab people on here, only two people in my 'real' life knew what had gone on, knew I'd been in an IVA in the first place. I went to see my parents and was grinning from ear to ear but couldn't tell them why which was a moment of sadness amongst it all, but please don't feel that you don't have a lot of people on here to talk to, who can empathise and advise and share.

My own experience is that once you're through the meeting, once those debts are legally ringfenced, it really is one long e-x-h-a-l-e....

Good luck - keep talking!

Mrs O

your creditors can vote yes, no or not vote, 75% of the debt (not your creditors) must agree for it to go ahead, so if you owed 20000 between 4 creditors and 15000 worth of debt was agreed it would go ahead, or vice versa, also if only 3000 worth of debt were to be voted yes and all other creditors didnt vote majority wins and vice versa again, not sure if ive explained that very well or not.

hi and welcome to the forum!

the emotions you are feeling are natural, so many questions and what ifs, but really your ip would not put a proposal forward if he did not think it stood a good chance of being approved!

ours was approved in april and although we have a budget to stick to the relief of not worrying about how we can keep our heads above water is priceless!

well done for facing up to your problems, keep posting as there lots of us on here to listen and support you!

good luck

rb, with regard to the phone calls, even if you answer them and tell them what you are doing, they will probably deny all knowledge of receiving any letters from you and will still demand payment. They will not stop ringing just because you tell them you are going for an IVA.

I used to ignore mine.

I also thought that is how the voting was worked out. Good luck all.

Our meeting will be soon also just need to sign all 50 dotted lines (okay slight exaggeration).
