Today I got a loan I was scarred stiff!!! No not the payments or I couldn't afford it but a loan?? Its amazing now how much I look at incomings and outgoings and a bit of panic attack. Not that I can't afford it but I don't want to be there in that black hole. Bought a folding camper something I have always wanted. I nearly cried as a year ago I was still paying my IVA.
So folks there is a light at the end of the tunnel follow your dreams its not easy but you will get there. My IVA went on for 6 years due to my spilt but I feel happy feel great and you will too!!!!![:)]
Good news on the loan front - and the folding camper ! Just pray now for good weather so you can enjoy it !
I know exactly how you feel re taking out credit - until a few months ago I had been using a prepaid credit card to build my credit score up, but took the plunge last month to apply for a Barclay Card - I was really sure that it would be rejected, however as everything had fallen off the credit record in mid September I gave it a whirl....got back from a weekend away on Monday to a Barclay Card with a credit limit of £3500 on it !
I have already rung them to ask them to reduce the credit limit to a £1000 - don't want then temptation and really only want it for emergencies and one monthly payment of fuel which will get paid off straight away.
Sensible steps is my motto - learnt so much throughout the IVA that I do not want to go backwards into the spiral.

There is a solution for everyone .... Just need to stay positive !
Hi Markiboy - great news on your camper - hope you get years of fun and use out of it! Great to see you in the light at the end of the tunnel when it looked so far off for you at times. Sensible borrowing can still be part of peoples plans when big purchases are budgeted for so it its good for others to know that does becomes possible.
Enjoy!

It is interesting how values change post IVA. I always HAD to have a nice car, had to look the part...now, still driving around in the one I had new in 2003! I know it's getting tired and I know it needs replacing but I'm not ready yet to take on that loan or have enough saved for a decent secondhand car...although to be honest I'm loathed to dip into savings too for anything!
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
I could not agree more. I decided to get a credit card, simply to see if I could be accepted and I was . Scared stiff to use it so I decided to cut it up and not use it.
I dont want credit only my mortgage. Would never live above my means. If I cant afford it I go with out simple. Thats all down to my IVA. Yes times haave been tuff but no overdratfs & credit cards. For me seems sensible.
I know people use credit cards simply for fuel etc... But I dont want any form of credit. The only issue is I will only have insurance, mobile and mortgage payable per monthly. So my credit rating will not be as good as it could be.
