Thank you all - have bought a bottle of wine to celebrate but as usual its tainted!
On leaving the works car park - went over the usual wee speed bumps and felt something scraping!
Then came the clunking noise on way home - luckily only 2 miles from work but by the time we got on our road - smoke billowing from the underside of the car and the noise got worse. Bottom line - front right suspension has snapped in two! Arghhhhhhhh
So now need to call AA in morning to get it towed to garage and await another dreaded phone call as to the cost of repair...
Its just as well i don;t have to pay 1st IVA payment till after next payday...money will now be used for repair!
I am now scunnered - good scottish word for disgusted/sick)

Great news, told you Cleardebt would look after you!

It won't be the easiest 5 years of your life, but it won't be the worst either, to be in control again is such a wonderful feeling.

Sure there are times where you wish you had a bit more money, but when you look back at how it was pre IVA (I'm talking about myself here, everyone's experiences are different!),worrying if you had a tenner til payday etc, then you'll get over any doubts.

I only found this board about 3 or 4 years into my IVA, but it was a great help as well.

Here's to the future!

Arrrgghh Susie. That isn't good. That happened to our car a month or so ago except we needed a new front tyre as well because the suspension coil decided to shred ours to pieces[V]. Infact we have had all kinds of very expensive problems with our car since just before Christmas. I wish we could get rid of it but hey ho!
Get yourself settled at home and crack open that wine.[:)]

Judo - sounds the same...the coil is rubbing on the driver side front tyre hence all the smoke - dreading the cost of repair! But its got to be done and if it wasn't for getting the IVA approved - i would have no money at all to repair.
Got a wee bit saved with not paying my min payments so it will all go to that!

Went for a new tyre this week and discovered the tracking was so far off the inside of the tyre was shredded !!! Needs new console mount bushes I discovered. Anyway -- bit of chatting with the tyre blokey and good old google and I have discovered what needs changing and how to do it --- parts come in at just under £20, and the tyre blokey will do the tracking for free when I have changed the bushes!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

That's a result Foggie - i wish we could do this ourselves but too big a job - if the repair including a new tyre comes in under £500 i'll be very happy.
its just something else to worry about - wouldnt have minded but we only took the car this morning as it was wet and windy..been walking to work to save on fuel!
