sorry forgot to add, but I understand why you have not told your family/friends as this is a very private matter. I wonder how many may be in the same position that you would be surprised if you only knew..

Keep smiling all and without any doubt (sorry to repeat) Hold your heads up high and be proud that you have done something. [:D][:D](as you can see I like the big smilies) hee hee [:D][:D]

Well done Scooby for getting your life back on track. I do think you are right. I think we would be suprised if we really knew what situation the people around us were in. A friend who we always assumed managed their lives well shocked me by telling me that she too was destitute. She confided that even when she paid her card bill the blance was going up - suprised - yes. I still kept my yap shut. Told her we were a bit skint too - understatement (I need spell checker too lol)

Barb

Thank you so much for your kind words - it has been a long uphill struggle and I will admit a few times I have thought "What's the point?"
But I made it.

A friend said to me the other day, "You know what the old Carole is back" I said "Oi less of the old" (groan I know but the "old" ones are the best") hee hee

Take care
Carole

I did tell my fanily too I was very scared to tell my mother but I did. Being a single mom I had no one I could lean on, I was the leanee and it was all too much for me. So I told mom and then my family and they were fantastic, very supportive and not judgemental.

Everyone has their own set of circumstances and reasoning and thats totally understandable.

I just felt so relieved because I could be honest about my circumstances, I didnt have to make excuses anymore about family outings, etc. Although Mom did worry and offered to help financially all I asked for was her understanding, "my debt, my problem", I said. I know she was proud of that, she was with me all the way but she died shortly afterwards, unexpectedly, very sudden. I am sooo glad that I was honest with her. I am also grateful that my family knew as I couldnt afford clothes or flowers for her funeral, I was deverstated at the loss of my mom. I know that I just couldnt have coped with this and the debt, plus the kids, if my family hadnt known, but they were fantastic and still are. When I count my blessing I count them all twice.

O Lili

I am sorry to hear of your Mum passing, I bet she's smiling on you and is proud of how far you have come - also you can take comfort in the honesty and closeness that you had shared.

Take care
Carole

Thanks Scooby, its over now, last year all that happened and well, its thanks to mom and my dad that I am free. I must admit to having a tear there when I typed that. Not usually so forthcoming with it all. Anyhow, its over, she is up there beyond the distant star and smiling down, I just know it. Love just lives on right??? I had wonderful parents, Mom and Dad, lovely siblings, I had a blessed and treasured childhood. I have lovely children and thats what I concentrate on. I have to look forward now.

Hey Lily, I just wanted to also say that I think your Mum is proud of you. It's lovely that you could openly share everything with her. I'm a big believer that our Mums watch over us and also intervene now and then when they can, sounds silly I know. I think my Mum would have been the only person to understand by problems.

Carole, so sorry about your ex, what an idiot! As Barb says, you sound lovely. I'm glad we have got each other. Viki X
